Cool! I never listened to Karn Evil 9... that's definitely the idea I was talking about.
Thanks for letting me know more about how it's generated.
I do remember this being a factory patch on some Roland early-mid '80s synth. I wish I could remember which one...

origin of the 'random freq cutoff filter' synth patch?

Hello all -
I remember a patch which I think is from the Roland JX-3P.
It's a sustained sound with the frequency cutoff filter jumping around randomly and quickly.
Does that sound familiar to anyone?
Can anyone confirm this starting with the JX-3P? Ever hear it on another synth?
