Mains Hum In Analogue Drum Synth
I've got an RMIF Elsita, a Soviet analogue drum synth that is a little like a Simmons SDS3 to use. The one problem with it, however, is that the noise channels all have a bit of mains hum to them. It's really quite pronounced and very distracting... Any ideas as to what might be causing it?

Re: Amiteque TX81ZT DIY project
Only problem I really see with this is that the 'normal' TX81Z takes up 1U of vertical rack space, which most people with a rack would probably be willing to donate, wheras this takes up table space... Don't know about you guys but I try staying clear of desktop modules as they clutter up what littl...

FS: C64 Board for potential SID Midibox
Selling a Commodore 64C board (only really missing case and keyboard) complete with MOS 8580 sound chip. I was going to make this into a Midibox project but never got round to it. This is completely untested so I make no promises. £15 ono, you can collect from Cardiff (UK) if you like or I can look ...

Re: Is this a smart move?
Thanks for your input, guys! Well, I went to go see it today, as I arranged with the guy - Or at least I tried to. I rang about two hours ahead, no answer. I tried again several times on the hour-long train journey with no luck, and waited an hour on the platform at the other end before coming back ...

Re: Is this a smart move?
you're lucky you know a good technician and have had them do work for you before. might drop them a line and ask what they think, get an estimate on the repairs. i'd definitely try to talk the seller down on the price though. doubt you'll miss what you've mentioned letting go if it does wind up in ...

Is this a smart move?
Bit of background: I'm a huge analogue sound junkie, especially for late 70s Japanese synths (blame Tomita, YMO and JMJ). Korg MS and PS stuff, Roland System 100, Yamaha CS and so on. I've just never really been wealthy enough to acquire it. I'm considering buying a Korg Polysix for sale down the ro...

Yamaha DX11 vs. Casio CZ-3000
Yamaha DX11 and Casio CZ-3000 - Cheap and cheerful '80s digital, anyone? Both these little wonders are for sale near me at very similar prices. They seem quite comparable on the surface, though I only have the budget for one. What I'm looking for is something which can produce a decent enough sound ...

Theremin problems
Afternoon, all! I've had a theremin kit from thereminkits.com for a while now and I've never been able to make the wretched thing work. I've followed the schematics word for word, not modified or changed a thing. No reason why it shouldn't work. However, it doesn't. http://www.thereminworld.com/pics...
