Re: Mono Synth
If I were you, I'd be careful to take the vintage route. Most of the Mono/Poly and Pro-One I've seen or owned did not age very gracefully and, in the case of the later, were poorly built and had a crappy keybed. I'd go with either the Sub-Phatty or the SH-2. If I'm not mistaken, the Sub's filter is ...

Re: Alternative to Juno 60?
I have a DSI Tetra, which is roughly equivalent to the Mopho X4. It's a nice portable keyboard, and it's definately capable of producing usable pads as long as you don't start playing big chords. I'm a Juno 106 user BT, and I use my Tetra as a substitute when I'm on the road. It doesn't sounds exact...

Re: Roland Sh-1000 Good deal for $500? And other questions.
Hi, I had a SH-1000 for a couple years. Very fun synth, more flexible than expected and even some of the presets were usable in the right context. It has a fast envelope so it's good for bass. The only problem with it is the lack of CV-gate interface for external sequencing/controlling. Kenton makes...

Re: Polysix alongside Juno 6?
If you can afford it, get the Polysix. I have one plus a Juno 106. I always had assumed they would be relatively the same (for the reasons you've mentioned), but they are very different machines. The Juno is more "plastic", more clean, purer and tighter. The Polysix, like others have mentioned, is gr...

Re: Drum Machines and Synths in 80's music production
People would first record a sync track with the intended tempo on their multitrack/portastudio. They would then sync sequencers/drum-machines/arpeggiators using that same track.

Re: Again: Juno or Polysix?
I have both a Polysix and a Juno 106. I don't have much time to post, so here's my brief take... Polysix : -VCOs will need adjustment once in a while, but they are very rich sounding; -SSM Filters are super nice too. Great for textures, brass, pads and strings. Great at "dark and mysterious"; -Onboa...
