New song (and first time sharing here) [Downtempo, Chillout]
Hi everyone. Here is a song I finished a few nights ago, and I thought someone here has to like it. It honestly probably isn't up to standard with some of the amazing songs I see posted, but myabe I'll get there someday. Anyway, thanks for listening! https://soundcloud.com/drewagler/elysium-sector A...

Re: Having a problem fine-tuning a synth sound
Hey everybody. Thanks again for the help. If anyone is interested here is what this little sample turned into.

Having a problem fine-tuning a synth sound
This is my first time posting in awhile, and now for entirely different reasons. I'm trying to compose a song, and though it might be better to fine tune the sounds later, this sequence is seriously irritating me. You'll know it when you hear it, but the issue is the first note of the sequence is mu...

Re: Looking for advice on what to buy
I appreciate everyone's input on this. While doing some research on the Mopho, which I was about to buy, I started investigating other analog monophonic synths. Future Retro stuff is incredible, obviously, but a little out of my price range. I came a cross a DSI Evolver for a really decent price ($3...

Re: Looking for advice on what to buy
I do really love those kind of driving sequencer patterns typical of Klaus Schulze and similar artists. Should I get an Electribe, an MPC, or what? I'm afraid my knowledge of the possibilities in electronic music is limited to just loving the music, and not knowing a whole lot about the specifics o...

Looking for advice on what to buy
It's hard for me to get my brain around the options in electronic music. I currently have an Ensoniq ESQ-1 as my main synthesizer, with a rack Roland D-110 (that I haven't figured out how to use yet) I do really love those kind of driving sequencer patterns typical of Klaus Schulze and similar artis...

Re: Req. info about the cost of building a synth.
I suppose I should clarify that I indeed am modeling my idea off M-Audio's Venom and like synthesizers (re: software/librarian + hardware synth), but I figured I could co-opt some of the figures from past synth manufacturers (or current ones, would be better I suppose) to ballpark it. Ensoniq's stor...

Req. info about the cost of building a synth.
I'm doing a project for university where we design a business plan for a music tech related thing. In my infinite folly, I chose building a synthesizer, marketing it, and selling it. So anything related to building an analog synth would be a good reference, as it might be easiest to come by. I bet s...

Re: VSE - Good trader/seller thread
I bought a Quadraverb from Suburban Bather. He was very accommodating with my questions, it had everything I expected, and it arrived a solid 3 days earlier than I expected. Whether that's incidental or not, you decide, but I think he's a wizard.

Trouble recording a synth (effects issue)
(I can't wait until the day when I'm not a newbie at DAWs and especially recording electronic music. Until then...) I'm doing this in Reaper, and it's doubly annoying since I don't know Reaper well yet. I can record a track, at least, but the following issue has prevented me from getting to in-depth...

Re: Advice on directions to take in synthesis
So I thought I'd post what I ended up doing and maybe I can have some feedback. I realized the softsynth approach is something to get into some time, but I realized it was kind of silly to spend just as much money on a controller when I could get a full blown synth for the same price. So I did lots ...

Re: Advice on directions to take in synthesis
Thanks to the previous posters. I'm reassured that, even though we can probably agree hardware synths are the option to aspire to, I'm not going about this the totally wrong way. Maybe sometime in the next few years (when I'm not making minimum wage and trying to to get too into debt in college) I c...

Advice on directions to take in synthesis
Hi, this is my first post on this forum after lurking a few days. I'm very interesting in the history of synthesis, but the amount of gear and the differences between them confounds me sometimes. Anyway, I hope this site will be a helpful and fun resource. I'm currently trying to decide on a good pa...
