Re: Akai AX-60 Custom Firmware (Akai AX60)
So I have finally found and purchased an AX60 after so many false starts. (I’ve never had so much bad luck hunting for down a synth!) So anyhoo, just curious if there has been any progress on this firmware revisit front. Also, for those with samplers connected to their AX60’s, would you recommend S6...

Re: Akai AX-60 Custom Firmware (Akai AX60)
Just another friendly voice applauding your efforts. FYI, if you’re not already aware, Bob Grieb did a great reworking of the Akai AX80 firmware. Might be a good resource to answer questions if you get stuck. I realize it’s not the same synth, but perhaps the code will be similar as they’re both 80’...

Re: Roland JX showdown: JX-3P vs JX-8P vs Super JX10
I realize that this is a bit of an old topic at this point, but I just thought I would mention for anyone visiting this thread now, that the Vecoven upgrades for the JX10 have really taking it to another level. With a straight EEPROM swap you get snappier envelopes, more envelopes (two of which are ...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards
I'll just leave this here: http://dojoe.net/images/mr-120x.jpg 120 cards, fresh from the assembly house. Next steps: Testing, some final assembly steps, setting up a sales channel (i.e. a website and PayPal link ;) ). I should maybe procure some sticky printable shipping labels too  I'm on vac...

Re: Kawai K3 (and K3m) programmability
Is there anything special I need to do to get my K3m to perform a sysex dump of all the patches? I'm not a noob at this, I can get it done on my CZ-1, SQ80, AX80, D-50, and JX10 . . . but I just can't seem to get the K3m to play ball. Is there something unusual about this baby's method I'm missing?

Ensoniq ESQ / SQ80 *rewritable* RAM cards available on eBay
The clever guy I've been conversing with about making rewritable Ensoniq SQ80 / ESQ RAM cards / cartridges has them available on eBay now. This is one of those things I've been long hoping would happen, but didn't figure it really would. Some of you may recognize that he's the guy who has been selli...

Vec 4.X OS+PWM Roland Super JX's BCR2000 editor presets
For those with a JX10 or MKS70 with the Vecoven 4.X OS + PWM upgrade, I've made a programmer for it using a Behringer BCR2000. All Tone Parameters (Upper and Lower parameters accessed separately), and nearly all Patch Parameters (the ones that matter) have dedicated knobs and buttons. Really makes t...

Re: Last remaining good value analogue poly synths?
My dream is that one day somebody cleverer than I will do an OS upgrade of the SQ80 adding realtime MIDI CC support, like Bob Grieb has done for a few, Vecoven has done for the Super JX's, Synthcom with Europa for the Jupiter 6, etc., etc.

Re: Last remaining good value analogue poly synths?
why its prices have not risen is beyond me. It might be because of the UI; I think the reason why a lot of very capable synths like the JXs, Alpha Junos, and the ESQ-1 continue to sell for low prices is because of the really tedious interface they have. In some ways I can see this being true, but t...

Re: Last remaining good value analogue poly synths?
I realize that the oscillators are not analog, but the filters are and they sound great… That said, I don't think you can do better for $300 - $500 than an Ensoniq SQ80. In my books it is the most underappreciated beast on the vintage send market. why its prices have not risen is beyond me.

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards
Has anybody shared this on certain other popular audio gear related sites/forums? If not, is that something you'd like to happen? I've posted on KvR, and as soon as the card design is finalized, we'll be sure to reach out to other sites as well. Do you have any particular pages in mind? Not really ...
