Re: Best analog-style drum synth thus far
I saw that video linked on Muffs the other night and had the same reaction, "get one of those." I offered up my Monomachine + cash for trade for an OT immediately. Monomachine not my Machinedrum because I'm basiclly just using the Monomachine as a sequencer for other synths, which the OT covers and ...

Re: Yamaha RS7000 vs. MPC 60
Thanks for the test results BaconTastesGood. Much appreciated. There is test data on number of MPCs on Innerclock System's litmus test page - http://www.innerclocksystems.com/New%20ICS%20Litmus.html . Basically the 4000 won and is nearly dead on and the 3000 and 60 are also very tight. I wish they g...

Re: Virus TI vs Virus B
There was a good thread on Gearslutz where a couple people chimed in to say something like "I've had both and think the B sounds better". I don't have direct experience, but seeing a handful comments like that there and elsewhere drove me towards a B, which I just bought! Arriving soon..tick tock..

Re: Incoming Knobby Blofeld (sort of)?
I like the looks of it, but that demo didn't sound to hot, to me.

Re: Waldorf Microwave XT vs Nord Lead 2(x)
Innnteresting. It seems to have kind of a hyped up midrange though. At least that seemed like a theme in the handful of demos I just heard. Kind of a guitar-y sound to it. Well based on my price range, sound quality and features, I'm leaning towards the Microwave XT. The only thing I'm nervous about...

Re: Waldorf Microwave XT vs Nord Lead 2(x)
What do you you guys think about the Yamaha AN1x? I just read up about it a bit and am listening to some demos now. Sounds pretty good.

Re: Waldorf Microwave XT vs Nord Lead 2(x)
Hm...I don't think I know what I want at this point. I do like some DX-7 sounds, but got pretty impatient with FM8 and imagine the DX would be work. The feature sets of the Poly Evolver and the maybe the Viruses might be the closest to what I have in mind, but they both sound weirdly fuzzy and annoy...

Re: What's the must realistic Subtractive/VA VST synth you k
Diva sounds seriously good. Check out some Soundcloud demos. I liked it so much that I jumped into real analog shortly after it came out. If that makes any sense. It requires so much CPU for polyphony at the top quality settings that you may end up spending more on a new computer than you would on g...

Re: Waldorf Microwave XT vs Nord Lead 2(x)
You guys are great. As for what I have on the modular side - it's still very much a work in progress, but a VCOb, RS95, A-101-2, A-140, A-103 STG Wavefolder, Pittsburgh mixers, 132...3? VCA, the Doepfer spring reverb, resetable LFO, low cost midi to cv, and an ES-3 MKII for Expert Sleepers usage. I ...

Re: Waldorf Microwave XT vs Nord Lead 2(x)
Hm, that's kind of a bummer to hear the the editing is not terribly intuitive or easy to access on the XT. The number of knobs was what first got me interested in it. Most of all I'm looking for something fun. I do want complexity though, so menus may be inevitable, but I want to main the vibe of "t...

Waldorf Microwave XT vs Nord Lead 2(x)
Dudes, Waldorf Microwave XT or Nord Lead 2(x) for a go to digital synth that I can control like crazy with a Monomachine sequencer? I'm looking for all of the appropriate buzz words, but the thing on my mind at the moment is a "pure" kind of tone but not lacking in "character". The Nord seems to hav...

Re: What vintage analog had the most dense sounding low midr
On the topic of Youtube having bad sound, there are a number of demos on Soundcloud too, which is much higher fidelity. Not as many as 'utube' and for fewer synths, but there are plenty of Phatty sounds for instance. I was skeptical of the Youtube sound quality issues until I saw people raving about...

So you don't think the DE is very versatile without other modules?

Re: first HW synth - SH-101 or Dark Energy or...
I definitely am interested in getting some modular gear in the future and what is one of the reasons I'm interested in the DE. On the other hand, the 'habit forming' nature of modular gear, based what I've heard, sounds pretty dangerous.

Ah never mind, the Telemark does not appear to have glide. I'm going with the Dark Energy, it's official.
