Re: Remixing a song...royalties,etc.
thanks for the info. I am taking lessons on Ableton and as one of my few projects I am learning to do remixes. It will show more use of the software. So I always saw all these remixes on iTunes,CDs,etc. and wondered the law. The song I am doing is "Don't You Want Me" by The Human League. Fun to do i...

Remixing a song...royalties,etc.
Hi,
I was wanting to know does the person remixing the song have to pay royalties or something? Or ask permission from the original artist? I see lots of remixes of stuff done from the 80s and wondered what they had to do.
I know it is probably a bunch of law stuff..but just an idea.
Thanks

Synthesis Courses
I was wondering if anyone has taken any of the synthesis courses online with the video tutorials?
I was looking at Sonic Academy's and Vespers.
I am better at watching than reading how it is made.

Re: Two questions here...
Great info !!!! I know te basics of theory...scales,rhythm, etc. Just picking the notes to match the chords in the scale I am using can take me a bit. I guess every chord progression has been done. So I am sticking to the classic ones first. Now when I get a melody in my head I will sing it into my ...

Two questions here...
I was wondering how many people who make electronic music have a deep knowledge of music itself? Such as theory, scales etc. Or have some started with very little musical knowledge. And when I am working on a piece I can come up with the bass, pads and stuff. But ,have a problem with coming up with a...

Re: New Computer

But it was slow and not and no fun to work with so I went back to PC. This time if I get one it will be solely for music and I will keep my PC for m...

New Computer

Is there really a difference in sound or anything between the two? I have used a MAc a couple times and was not sure. ...

Re: My first piece,
Hey, Thanks for the feedback. I have not come up with a melody that I want to add which would make it much ore interesting and add variations of that. I was thinking of adding a very slow beginning with pads and have the drums slowly come in. I want to add more drama like you said. Just not sure wha...
