That works! Thanks again.
Definitely liking the plompy editor the most - much fewer problems sending and receiving midi than MQ and SD. Granted, that could very easily be user error/inexperience.

Re: SoundDiver & a TG33
Yeah, software for the early SY/TG series seems to be hard to come by. I do have an editor that allows access to all the hidden parameters, but I can't for the life of me remember where I downloaded it; I'll dig it up when I get home from work. No idea if it'll run on Windows 10 or not. Okay, it wa...

SoundDiver & a TG33
Hi all, recently purchased a TG33 and am interested in digging in a bit deeper with it. I've heard Sounddiver is a useful editor, both in general and for using the TG33's hidden parameters (also, MidiQuest is a bit difficult to use for patch editing.) I've found copies on ebay of Sounddiver 3.05a fo...

Re: Thoughts on the CZ-5000
I hope he bought the darn thing already 8-) Well, you folks have certainly swayed me toward doing so! I would have last weekend but had some unexpected expenses come up that took a bit out of my spending budget. If it's still around in a few weeks (and I'm guessing it will; it's already been listed...

Thoughts on the CZ-5000
I found someone selling a Casio CZ-5000 near me for $180, and after some initial discussion I could get him down to $160 at least. I've done some brief research on the synth and I'm interested in the phase-distortion concept and the possibilities of getting weird/gritty/dusty sounds out of it. That ...

SY77 - Interesting, but you're not different enough from FM8 to warrant your fat arse taking up like half of my efficiency apartment.

Re: Buying under-priced vintage synths
It really depends on the circumstances; if this is some guy who clearly who's just clearing out the garage and clearly has the means to check the prices then I have no problem with #2. If it's some parent looking to raise money for funeral arrangements after their son's untimely death, I'd be honest...

Re: #Selfie Synth
I'm simply arguing from the way I see things without feeling the need to constantly wax mealy-mouthed about how everything is subjective and everybody's sacred cow is cool, and evidently some people just can't abide that. Regardless of the topic at hand, CJ hits the nail on the head here. The amoun...

Re: Geddy Lee/Rush synths
I did see them last summer and while Geddy had a sampler of some variety he also have a Little Phatty for certain parts (I think he used it for the Tom Sawyer leads, though I could be wrong.)

Re: Geddy Lee/Rush synths
There seemed to be at least a small throwback to synths on Clockwork Angels, namely those excellent shimmering pads during the chorus of BU2B.

Re: Best Synth Teacher
Alchemy, as I started off with software. The layout makes it quite easy to understand how modulation and signal flow operates, while still being easy to read with little screen changing. I now rarely use it as my other software and hardware sounds quite a bit better, but I very likely would have bee...

Re: What got you started into synthesizers?
I've been into metal since high school, and got the idea to actually get a band going my sophomore year in college, with a friend of mine on guitar and bass, myself on vocals and either programmed drums or a separate drummer. I was interested in some of the more atmospheric sides of metal at the tim...

V50 Question: Disable Drum sound
Working with the presets on my Yamaha V50 here, and whenever I play notes on the upper half of the keyboard, it plays a drum (sounds like a snare) hit underneath whatever the preset happens to be. How do I disable that?
