I went to Guitar Center today and the sales-guy plugged in my MIDI cable into my Mbox like it was no problem at all. I had to do a double take! Like Ninja said, "Sometimes midi ports on new gear are REALLY, REALLY tight".

Thanks everyone. I will try a new cord and see if my old plug is more forgiving.

Thanks so much for your reply. There seems to be a slight variance in the exact pin placement and the angle of the slits of the actual plugs. The old-school pins won't fit into the new plugs. Can you see the difference of the actual plugs in my picture? On the top is my KORG and the bottom is the Mb...

MIDI Plugs... Have They Changed since the late 1980's!?

Hello, I have a KORG 01/W FD (same MIDI plug as a Korg M1 and probably any other keyboard from the late 190's and early 1990's) and I have recently bought an Mbox 3, but my MIDI cord won't fit into the MIDI plugs of my new Mbox 3!
