Re: Waldorf Quantum - new 8 voice hybrid poly
I could not be more excited for this synth. I *love* hybrids--something about those wavetable timbres carved up by a analog filter just gets to me--and ever since I became aware of the PPG, have lusted after that sound. Even in my most rash phase of GAS, though, and even when I had the job to suppor...

Re: Alesis SR-16 question...
BPM is only saved in song mode, not pattern mode. And drum set is a separate entity to pattern. Also I've edited my last post since you replied above... Erase all notes is on page 25, IIRC there's a single step and a per note way to do it. Ya the SR-16 workflow is quite different to the MPC. Maybe ...

Re: Alesis SR-16 question...
I used to have an SR-16. I don't understand what you're trying to do. The record setup parameters are global, not per-pattern. The only thing you set in a pattern is number of beats. It's not hard, you're right, but I've found it cumbersome while in a compositional flow--and since it's a computer I...

Re: small MIDI controller/synth
Sorry, I thought it was clear that I'm looking for something small--similar in size to the Oxygen-8, ca. 25 keys. My "bargain" request is, however, far more subjective, so...something less than $500, and well less would be optimal. For perspective, I was considering the Monologue but it doesn't appe...

Re: Alesis SR-16 question...
MT, I've enjoyed your thoughtful posts over the years and had pleasant exchanges with you (under my previous handle Code Green)--have things gotten so bad here that you're inclined to respond this way without considering the question? I'm aware of all those erase methods. But as I stated in my post,...

Re: small MIDI controller/synth
Thanks for weighing in but I'm looking for a small synth to replace its functionality, not another (solely) MIDI controller.

Re: Alesis SR-16 question...
Great tip! Thanks! Or maybe I did that already and couldn't find anything to that effect, but thought that longtime users might know a trick or two, which is why I'm posting here.

Alesis SR-16 question...
Just got one of these; quick question: is there a one-step way to erase all the note events from a pattern while retaining other saved info for the pattern (record setup info, etc.)? "Erase Pattern" just deletes everything about the pattern...

small MIDI controller/synth
I've been using an M-Audio Oxygen 8 as a desk controller to control my e6400 Ultra and desktop Evolver--just for auditioning sounds, triggering samples, and simple lead and bass lines. It's falling apart, and given the terrible key feel of most MIDI controllers and the cost of good ones, I've been p...

Help?! How to set portamento on JV-1010
Anyone know how to set portamento (activate + adjust time) from the front panel of a JV-1010? I've read the manual and, though portamento is mentioned there, I remain mystified.

Re: Oberheim OB-6 Dave Smith
There's so much to Dave Smith's career, so many pioneering milestones...and one would have to say his ability and willingness to collaborate is one of its most important hallmarks.

Re: Chorus (guitarpedals) for pads etc
I have the Boss CE-2--very nice pedal but did not play well, impedance-wise, with my Prophet 600. Can't remember how it fared (or if I tried it) with my other synths. With a ReAmp, however, it's very nice (but something to bear in mind if this is for live use and you don't want to have to bother wit...

Re: "Wonderful Christmas Time" by Wings Synth?
Happy Wonderful Christmas Time! My extremely worthless 2 cents to this thread: When I got my Prophet 600--which, according to the eBay listing, had once been owned by or used by Roger O'Donnell (I forget), the (originally blank) patch sheet in the manual had a hand-written patch title for "Wonderful...

Re: That point in which sequencing MIDI just seems like a ch
I have a too-long backlog of songs that... -Are unfinished -Are finished but need mixing -Are finished but, I can see now with the perspective of years/accumulated skills, really want to be re-recorded (in many cases, the original recording was intended to be a demo but I ended up spending too much ...
