I was able to answer my own question. 707 memory cards DO NOT work in the Korg DS-8. I got a message that said "CARD ERROR / NO DATA IN CARD". I have the card DSCU-400 which is a program card for both the DS-8 and the 707 that works though.

Does anyone know if a DS-8 can read 707 ROM cards? I've read that the Korg 707 can read DS-8 ROM cards. I assume the 707 just ignores some of the data for the extra features on the DS-8 but is it compatible the other way around?

Gorgeous! I’d assume that you lose the floating-split keyboard function from the Synergy but does the Mulogix Slave 32 keep the polyphonic portamento?

It would be great to have a 21st century EX5 with a touch screen that took cues from the V-synth.

Yes, that image is an obvious quick photoshop job. What makes me skeptical about a Reface VL is the fact that so far Yamaha has cheaped out on I/O options, mod & pitch wheels and external inputs for modulation. The VL kinda lives or dies by these additional controls.

HideawayStudio, Have you tried the Yahoo Groups or Facebook groups? There are 2 Yahoo Groups but they don't seem to be very active. There are 2 related Facebook groups - one general and one is for buy/sell/trade. I'm sure you can find fellow UK users through there. Here are the links: https://groups...

Richard Tandy synth fans should check out Tandy/Morgan - Earthrise, and album he made with Dave Morgan released in 1985. Synths all over the place! Sci-Fi themes! Vocoder robot voices! Not quite up to the standards of ELO, but a fun record with a number of high points. http://www.mannmusicjourney.co...

I would love to see a Mono/Polysix. 6 VCO synth with the all the features of both and the ability to stack or round-robin the voices like the Mono/Poly. With full size keys & only miniaturizing the controls a bit to fit more on the panel. Leaking batteries not included...

I saw that too! Oh, never mind the vague brown area where the keys should be... Give me top dollar please!

Remember that this isn't a preorder. They're not able to make a single synth yet. They need to meet their crowdfunding goal first. Which is no guarantee at all. The indiegogo page says they'll get the money whether they meet their goal or not. My impression from the site is that the "new" Synthex w...

Aside from wanting Yamaha to re-enter analog synth land, this is also a great idea for combining the best of Yamaha's digital synth technologies:

It looks like the SQ can play back MMT-8 sequences directly from the DataDisk. With the regular DataDisk you need to dump it to the MMT-8 first.

There's an SQ on eBay right now that's $100 shipped but with a little patience you can find an Alesis DataDisk on craigslist for $30-50.
