Re: Korg MS2000 portamento problem
I would remove the cap for the portamento pot and hit it with a little deoxit first, and see if that helps.., if not, the you may need to replace the pot

Re: SH-101 envelope issue (strange behaviour)
Back up and running! I ordered the slider from syntaur on friday, it came it today and I made short work of it. I also replaced the battery terminal ends (the originals had corrosion). I ordered the power switch, but decided to test it first and its acting correctly, so i'll just hang on to it. But ...

Re: the reality of using aged analog kit live - please be ho
I had a reverse key poly 800 a while back. I never gigged it. It was always spotty at best as far as reliability even in a static environment. I do agree though that some very unique sounds came from it (intentionally and unintentionally :D  ) But I am in the same boat right now too. I just p...

Re: SH-101 envelope issue (strange behaviour)
Thanks for the info Well the mod wheel was a cracked bracket, and a dot of super glue got her back on track. As for the dodgy key, it looks like the rubber contact strip is worn. I rotated it around and now the key under that contact is spotty. As for the release, a good cleaning did nada, so it loo...

SH-101 envelope issue (strange behaviour)
So I just picked up a grey sh-101 and it sounds brilliant. But: so if the VCA switch is set to envelope and you press and hold a note it will attack and release properly, but if you tap a note and let it go, i am getting ultra long release times regardless of where the slider is. I will investigate ...

Re: CB55 (DR55 Clone)
I saw this a while back, but tbh the limited sequencer is a big part of the charm with the original. Maybe if you are going to eurorack it up this would be a good board, but the originals are going for very cheap these days, so I chose to go that route.
It does look easy to build though.

Re: DIY Custom Hard Cases, where to start?
OK, here they are: With guitar (the two blocks in the cover hold the guitar in place): http://i57.tinypic.com/2qmeous.jpg Question: with knobbier synths, is it advisable to place blocks on the lid (similar to your guitar case) on the edges to hold it in place VS having the knobs take the pressure a...

Re: What is live techno ?
:my opinion: I think its a fine line, in the end (at a live show) you are either selling a product (the music people came to hear) or the entertainment (the live show). As a business, I think it would obviously be a blend of both. Give the feeling of a thrown-together-and-we'll-make-it-work set whil...

Re: Minimal synth collaborators?
When I read your thread title, I says to myself: "Self, how many collaborators can one have on a 'minimal synth' track before more than half are just standing around nodding with hands in pockets?" :drums:  But really, good luck finding someone. I love the genre too, but honestly don't enjoy co...

Re: Alesis Ion problems
i exerienced 2 outta 3 on my miniak when I purchased used a few years ago. 1. scratchy pot - pot cleaner or even isopropyl alcohol down the shaft and then many 'lock to lock' rotations cleared it up. Well, it cleared it up as long as you don't hit the stop point on either end (all the way up or down...

Re: What's your favorite synthesis method--
I only use subtractive and a tiny little bit of fm. Subtractive is the easiest for me to hear a sound in my head and get a pretty close patch quickly. FM not so much... I get the theory of operators / etc but the smallest change in a patch can take you from musical to demolishing very quickly, and i...

On a dark or poorly lit stage, red is the easiest and least stressful color for eyes to see. Just sayin' This is true, but that shiny surface reflecting any overhead lights has got to be annoying. Don't get me wrong, I like Tron just as much as the next guy, but this and the aira series are are ter...
