Re: File playing/conversion problem
Nevermind, I was able to figure it out. All the mp3 files had matching "index" files which were not audio files, but labeled as such.

Re: File playing/conversion problem
I have some hana barbera sound effects files that I want to use in my Motif XF, but they are giving me trouble. I am using a PC running Windows 7. Here is what is happening: I can open the main folder. I can open the sub folders. If I click on an individual mp3 file inside one of the subfolders it ...

Buying a synth in Canada, need help.
I'm planning on crossing from the US into Canada, and buying a synth for 1000 USD. Has anyone here done this? I'm asking because I want to get an estimate of taxes, duties, or whatever I will have to pay to bring it into the US. It is yamaha, so not made in Canada, or a Nafta country.

Re: Yamaha motif xs recording vs motif xf
Read this document from Yamaha. Make sure you have the latest OS installed. The USB recording must be done in one pass....sequence everything then play the sequence out to USB. Or record real time playing to USB. The sampler is a primitive way of recording, it's like a tape recorder. The sampler is...

Yamaha motif xs recording vs motif xf
Hi, I'm considering getting a motif xs, and I want to to know if I can record my entire song within the xs, and then load it onto a thumb drive without ever having to deal with any external mixer, usb interface, or daw on a computer. Basically can I make the music from start to finish inside the xs,...

Re: A question about the Motif XS vocoder
Thanks. That answers my question. I want to consolidate, but it looks like I will have to keep the microkorg for my vocoding needs. Luckily it's so small.

A question about the Motif XS vocoder
I'm considering getting an XS, and I know it has a vocoder. My question is how good is it? I think I read that it was a 10 band. I want to get rid of my microkorg, so I'm wondering will the XS do everything the microkorg's vocoder can do?

Why is it called the DX7 ?
This is a silly question that never occurred to me before, so I have to ask the people here. The DX7 has six operators, and a six octave keyboard. Also 16 voices of polyphony. Where the h**l does 7 come into this?

Re: General Troubleshooting Logic
f**k it up how? So if the behaviour was unchanged it would imply a poor psu, dry joint or loose connection to that area of the board. In other words, it looks like the system is being prevented from communicating with the firmware. Do you have the service manual and a scope? When I was taking out t...

Re: General Troubleshooting Logic
I'd try disconnecting as many (all) of the daughter PCBs as I could and see if it seems any more stable. I wouldn't expect that to work, but it will at least confirm that the mainboard is indeed the culprit. If it actually stabilizes, connect each daughter card back in one-by-one and when it flakes...

Re: General Troubleshooting Logic
Too proud to ask? But this is your third topic about it here? I don't get that. What stuff have you worked on before? A synth like this is a very complex beast to start out with! Reseating ICs is a good idea- solves bad connections. As I said earlier. And, as I said earlier, it's not a "logic" appr...

Re: Would you buy this (mostly functional) korg polysix?
Thanks for the insight.madtheory wrote:I second that. Those problems are most likely caused by battery damage. Or maybe they're aren't, in which case you'd be really, really lucky to get it for $200. If I was the SELLER I'd be getting the thing repaired and flipped.

Re: Would you buy this (mostly functional) korg polysix?
Most I'd pay is $200. Then buy the KiwiSix kit and replace the original mainboard which might have battery damage with the Kiwi's board. There might still be more issues, but should be more than a couple hundred to fix. He's asking $400. I thought it was a little much for something that will probab...
