New techno tune
I just finished another tune. I started off with the intro part which includes a kick and snare. Then I had the idea of creating the bass by side-chaining a limiter with the snare. I had tried doing this before with the kick and it was a disaster. I like it this time. With these two elements in plac...

Re: Two new tunes
Sounds great! Well done for deciding to add the melodies. Do not give up what you started, you will be surprised at how much you could do. Although writing music is not an obligation, it cannot be done under compulsion. Thanks KayBur! I seem to be getting the hang of making melodies but its tricky ...

Re: Two new tunes
I like the Techno one a lot! At first I felt the lead line could do with more development, but the structure is really great at doing that instead. It's groovy and catchy, nice work! While listening I thought I'd sign up to SOundclick, but their license agreement allows them (unlike Soundcloud) to ...

Two new tunes
Hi, My focus over the last few months has been to finish what I've started. As I result I've actually managed to finish 3 tunes since December, having not completed anything for years. For my latest tune I wanted to focus mainly on structure, which I think is one of my weak points and a consequence ...

Re: First tune for 5 years
That's everyone for your replies, I really appreciate them! I programmed the tune in Ableton and bounced to mp3 and aiff from there. 44.1kHz, 16bit with triangular dithering. Mp3 is CBR 320. I've only used ableton's effects. The synth is a Matrix 1000 and the bass is done using a Juno Alpha. My audi...

First tune for 5 years
I'm a disaster at finishing my music but I've made a big effort this time and would love some feedback. Moved recently from Logic to Ableton so I'm still trying to get my head around it.

Roland-JX3P with Organix
Hi, I have a Roland MKS 50 (Juno Alpha Rack Mount) and a Oberheim Matrix 1000. I use both with my daw's sequencer and control the Roland in realtime with my own custom software in combination with the Behringer BCR2000. This allows me to load patches from my pc to the MKS 50 and get all the lights o...

Suitable delay for alpha juno
Hi, I use a Roland Mks-50 for making old school techno. I use a controller with it to manipulate the sounds a lot while performing. I would like to get an analogue delay for under 500 dollars which would suit this synth and which could be easily adjusted during performance - even playing havoc with ...

Re: Kid's first synth
I have a four year old. Are there any synths for the iPad which might be suitable for someone that young?

Re: Should I buy an analog synth now?
Thanks for your help! The audio file in my post contains just parts of the songs that I am working on but its obvious now even to me that I need to focus on completing tunes for now. I like the idea of importing my favourite tunes into my daw and seeing how they are developed. Since I'm new to elect...

Should I buy an analog synth now?
Hi, I'm a newbie to electro and am at the stage where I'm wondering if an analog synth would be a sensible investment. Here's a few bars from several of the tunes I'm working on, it might give an idea as to what stage I'm at: http://picosong.com/tazz I've programmed these instruments myself in Logic...
