Re: What's Wrong With My Juno-106?
Well, I have got several people interested in electronics, and building things and giving on the same knowledge to next ones about 16 years ago... but in this situation I don't have any words how impatient some can be. :( .... Lester... forums are not only for asking questions (especially very basi...

Re: What's Wrong With My Juno-106?
Lol you don't like my attitude of asking for help? Isn't that what forums are for? One fool can ask more questions than seven wise men can answer. Okay then. I actually already found a tech at a competitive price who charges by what they service, not by hour. ...and I am a non-competitive tech who ...

Re: What's Wrong With My Juno-106?
Again, do you have any advice on the thumping sound in my sample? Is that from the vca not being calibrated properly? I do not like that attitude. WHat next, like I should repair it to You?! (I think that I just wasted my energy). Also, I don't really care if a service guy gets annoyed from me tink...

Re: What's Wrong With My Juno-106?
Still Lester, what makes me most wonder and what got stuck in my head is this... (now do not take this as attack again)... Before You wrote so... I mean, anything of high monetary value is valuable to me... I wouldn't want to just be careless and act like it wouldn't be a big deal if I ruined a tho...

Re: What's Wrong With My Juno-106?
Read your whole post, somehow missed the edit. No hard feelings from what you said. Please believe me that I wouldn't ask questions about things I can find in the manuals. Like I said I did a lot of reading and there were just certain things I either couldn't find in the manuals, or didn't understan...

Re: What's Wrong With My Juno-106?
Step 9 didn't even really seem to affect what I did in step 8. Any ideas? Lesson learnt I guess. Thats what happens when the attitude is "i dont bother to read manuals! So, read them to me!". Becouse thats exactly what was it, other people took also the same information from service manual. Begin f...

Re: What's Wrong With My Juno-106?
Redid all the calibration, minus the chorus. I haven't done the chorus at all yet. My res sounds better, and the voices are very close to being in tune with each other, only one is slightly off. But it still sounds very harsh when I turn it up on any patch. The multimeter advice for the peak to peak...

Re: What's Wrong With My Juno-106?
To calibrate the vca bias you just have to adjust the respective trimmers until the voices don´t make an audible "thump". More on that later. I meant the vca offset. What they call vca bias is different step, easier to do. Sorry. The probes will have to be calibrated too. Plenty of videos showing h...

Re: What's Wrong With My Juno-106?
You have this right? http://www.cyborgstudio.com/synthmp3s/roland/juno106/manual/juno106servicenotes.pdf And as Mooger5 asked- how's the PSU? Yes, this is the service manual I have been using. The PSU calibration was easy, all the voltage values are correct. Once I get my proper probes in the mail ...

Re: What's Wrong With My Juno-106?
I too thought you were going to practice first on a guitar pedal kit. Well, how´s the power supply? Dit it calibrate well? To calibrate the vcf and now the vca, as I told you, you don´t need a scope. To measure a peak to peak voltage, multiply it by 0.3535 and set the multimeter to read AC. The pro...

Re: What's Wrong With My Juno-106?
The dumbest thing I did was not use proper probes. Awaiting those in the mail. Thanks for all the advice again.

Re: What's Wrong With My Juno-106?
Any ideas? Also- youtube is not really the best source of information. It's often "second hand" and either glosses over certain points (like the step you appear to have skipped) or is plain wrong, with no evidence basis. Syntegrator is getting his info primarily from the Roland Juno 106 service man...

Re: What's Wrong With My Juno-106?
UPDATE: I've been following syntegrator's tutorials and the calibration is going well. However, after testing the voices today, I noticed a few errors. VCA Level is too loud and doesn't turn all the way off when set to 0. I messed up the res more, it sounds pretty weird and loud. I turned the noise ...
