Re: For buying Roland Jupiter 8 parts

This website again lol It is 100% a scam :D They're hoping some poor fool with send their precious JP off to repair and they ship it overseas for sale. Their FB page has a video which has been taken from youtube. There are plenty of other legit places you can find online to find a PSU for a JP8. The...

Re: Juno 106 | Infinite Sustain, Sweeping, Humming

Yep classic Juno 106 voice chip failure, take it to a tech. Acetone stripping works in up to 80% of cases depending on the voice chip batch and the skills of your tech. You can just replace them all this is the surest method but priciest, you'll still need a tech.

Re: Juno 60 arpeggio acting very strange

This could happen for a variety of reasons and not something you could sort out unless you are a tech so take it to one. If you're in Sydney, Australia let me know I can sort it out for you, I've repaired quite a few

Re: Moog Prodigy all Capacitors replaced with resistors?!

Yeah the ones in the light green packages are capacitors not unusual to see this for stuff of this era but definitely confusing for newbies. Common reason for one oscillator not to work is the transistor array chip which is the heart of the oscillator, have a look at schematic it would be a CA3046 o...

Re: Yamaha DX7 gets hot

This is completely normal for the Mk I DX7. The hotter the heatsink the more heat is being removed from the voltage regulators attached to it. I've seen this not working properly the regulator overheats, the 5v one for example and the synth stops running

Re: Poly 800/no place for internal battery

Apparently there were three versions of the mkI mainboard. There's one with no provision for a CR2032 memory battery on the board, one with solder pads and marking on the silkscreen for where the memory battery should go and finally ones with a CR2032 installed which became standard on the mkII. You...

Hello synth lovers Thought I would announce here that the upgrade kit for the Roland JX-3P by Laurens Schelling ie originally the Organix mod which had been discontinued for a few years is again available from Series Circuits. Re: Weird noise from Roland JX3p

I've done a lot of these, take it to a tech he needs to change the muting transistors which are 2SC2878A type. This affects a lot of Junos as well. If yours has any 2SC2603 or 2SA1115 in the chorus board they're obvious because they're the small ones marked "603" or "115" they should be changed too ...

Re: Korg Electribe S (ES-1) Firmware and Factory Sounds

Thanks very much for archiving this I have the ES-1 mkI, i put them mkII firmware on it and the delay effect is much preferred!! I pulled this down from the Yahoo groups as well before they went down good to see it though :) Still wish someone would write an fx editor for it, so we could customise o...

Re: KORG M1 Will not power up after Battery Replacement

You can still get all the factory sounds for it from the official Korg site and use a program like MIDIOX to dump sysex back into the unit, this will restore all patches and combis. Most importantly you need to set the low level buffer size to something smaller than the default so that it slows the ...

Re: ARP Odyssey MK III Osc 2 problems

Check the surrounding circuitry that all is connected where it should be. It's possible the carbon track is just too worn hence you get response only in small amount of travel. Also double check that you put the correct fader there, on the side there's the resistance value and the taper. So it will ...

Holy s**t batman :o You have something truly rare there, it doesn't even come upon any image search. Those are possibly the only pictures on the internet! Ace Tone later became Roland. There's only a text entry in wikipedia under Ace Tone products as the SY-100. The only other two synths under Ace T...

Yamaha DX7S sysex bank loading

Hi I have a DX7S (black version with push buttons) that's driving me bonkers. The battery was dead which I replaced and now it saves just fine. However I can't get the loaded sound banks to work properly. They seem to load just fine I get "Bank received" and all the names show up properly but the so...

Re: KORG M1 - No sound / Low battery indication. SOLVED!

This thread came in handy with Korg M1 repair I did recently. I cleaned up the glue and changed three resistors a 2x560R, 220R, and rectifier diodes D6 and D7. All the caps were fine. Symptoms were machine would randomly reset and after an hour of playing the sound becomes intermittent probably beca...

Re: Problem Reloading Factory Patches D-20

I had issues loading patches via sysex to old synths this might help you. Firstly make sure the memory protect is OFF! Secondly the transmission speed on some old keyboards needs to be slowed down. On MIDIOx there's an option to change the low level buffer size, default values can be too high. Reduc...
