Re: How can I produce this Minimoog special sound effect?
Hi, interesting device. As source I need then a synth which can play the sound of an electric guitar and at least with 3 tones paraphonic, to play a chord. I never used effects devices for guitars. If I have understood correctly, the sound chain should be composed of: e-guitar sound generator --> Ov...

Re: Yamaha DX7 gets hot
Hi, thank you for the photo. On the heatsink I don't see possibility to add easily additional surface. On the rectifier you could fix a small heat sick. There are many which can fit. Like some types made for the TO220 format. You can cut them, if necessary. The problem is that the missing of air int...

Re: How can I produce this Minimoog special sound effect?
But what a trauma! For decades I though that there was a mysterious keyboard behind that sound. If a simple synth is not the best tool, I have to look for a workaround… I could use a keyboard, analog or digital, able to play the sound of an electric guitar, and then adding these effect modules exter...

Re: Yamaha DX7 gets hot
Hello. Such temperatures are quite commons. The temperature point for "can't hold long a finger on it" is around 50°C. For a semiconductor it is actually not so much, compared to the max working temperature limit of over 100°C, but it is not good for electrolytic capacitors, exposed to the same temp...

Re: How can I produce this Minimoog special sound effect?
Thank you all for the precious indications! Then do you mean that the source sound comes from a guitar and not from a Minimoog? Is it possible to produce this sound using a synthesizer, passing through an Electric Mistress or MXR 117 box? (+ overdrive module + stereo processor, if not included all i...

How can I produce this Minimoog special sound effect?
Hello everybody, I have a basic knowledge about synthesis (ADSR, filters, LFO, etc...) and I would like buy a synth to generate the same sound (like a jet engine) played in the track "Sci-fi Boogie" by the band Rockets, of the year 1978. It starts at 10 seconds here: https://youtu.be/Vo9iK8UOZOY?t=1...

Re: Korg POLY 800 strange problem
It could be a dirty signal path, due to dried electrolytic capacitors, or dirty DC voltage. As first you can try with another power supply (it should be extern, if I remember correctly). If it doesn't help, it could be some bad capacitor inside. In aged electronic boards, the first things to check/r...
