Syn303 wrote:Oh! that's an easy one, it was the Linn LM-1, also used on "I Want To Break Free"

Not that easy.

Both songs used the LinnDrum.

I am looking for a MIDI software package to replace the now-defunct Record Producer MIDI Edition from Turtle Beach. I need something as identical and simple as possible. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks, you're a lot of help. In any event, forget I asked. Guitar Center's staff was very helpful in confirming my ideas. I need an ASIO device first and foremost, some of which have a maximum input capacity of eight channels. Optionally, if I chose a smaller ASIO, I will need a hardware mixe...

I will soon be using a new Dell desktop with Windows 8.

I don't currently own MIDI hardware. All I have now are the two Linns which are not retrofitted for MIDI. I take it they have synch capabilities though?

Hello folks. I have some questions about recording with Synapse Audio's Orion virtual studio. I want to record my Linn LM-1 and LinnDrum (and other '80s drum machines I plan to acquire) in real-time from their individual outputs to individual mixer channels in Orion. I take it that I will need addit...

That is for sure.

Saving all my love... is regarded as the premium example of the El.Piano1 DX7 sound, actually. Not a real rhodes. There is an easy trick to fatten up the stock DX7 sound and make it chorused, just by changing a few parameters. Actually, you've got the wrong song. "Saving All My Love For You" is act...

Not the Drumulator. The main drum and percussion sounds are LinnDrum sounds, including the triangle and "temple bell" sounds.

Later in the song, after the instrumental bridge, real live drums are overdubbed on top of the sequenced LinnDrum sounds.

I'm still thinking of what my favorite could be, but one that pops straight into my head would be the beat from MJ's 'Wanna Be Startin Somethin' - the beat is nasty and that linndrum (right?) just has that magic charm! Wrong. ;) It was a Linn LM-1 Drum Computer. The later LinnDrum was the LM-2.

I have a recipe for a heavy bass sound. I discovered it myself. Basically it sounds like a much heavier and fatter version of a singlular sawtooth wave. Set oscillator 1 to 32'. Make it a square wave (a pure square wave to start with). Set oscillator 2 to 16' and make it a sawtooth wave. Set the fin...

Actually, it's a Linn LM-1 Drum Computer. I know because I can create the exact sounding rhythm track on mine.

I already own a LinnDrum and an LM-1 Drum Computer, so as far as my dream setup goes, I want to add the following: Drum Machines Oberheim DMX Oberheim DX Roland TR-808 Roland TR-909 Synths Roland's Jupiter-8 and Juno-60 Sequential Circuits's Prophet-5 Oberheim's OB-X and OB-Xa MiniMoog For now, howe...

madtheory wrote:Interesting thread. I'm sure you could email it to Bruce...

I will do just that.

Thanks, Overgear. I'm sure I can explain the information to Bruce as best I can. Thank you for helping me finally diagnose the problem.

Overgear, you are a lifesaver! I haven't the faintest idea of what DC offset is, but your description sounds totally accurate. The congas do sound overdriven; the metallic harshness I've described sounds like soft-clipping. I don't want to start fooling around with the insides of the machine; I will...
