Re: New stuff from Roland!

What he's thinking is how EACH device has its own driver. ASIO is one device at a time but you can release it in the background. That means if something is minimized or not focused on, it ceases use of the audio drivers.

But um, what problem are we trying to solve again?

Re: New stuff from Roland!

AFAIK, no. My guess is, it's considered a USB device that passes audio and simply shows up like another attached source/channel. I used the oldest damn software (Adobe Audition 1.5) and it showed up. Same in Cubase and Sonar. This is years ago, so I don't think they 'forgot' how to make a product th...

Re: New stuff from Roland!

how is that going to work with your main soundcard. AFAIK you can usually only have one ASIO device active at any time. If that's the case it still leaves it a bit lacking in terms of studio integration. In previous Roland models, it isn't a soundcard choice per se, it's an input. So in your DAW, y...

Re: New stuff from Roland!

Good point about the price. In some weird way, it's almost like Roland and Korg are trading product lines. These are a lot like electribes where I could easily see someone collecting them and using them chained up. When ever has Roland done that? And the volcas... Well you know. I am already thinkin...

Re: New stuff from Roland!

I dunno, those are all analog and if THOSE ain't good enough, I don't see how this would be and if you craved those sounds... I don't see how you haven't done something about it already. What I like is the potential for the next... Like how will this engine be used next. Oh and I do wish there was s...

Re: New stuff from Roland!

I can't believe the pricing.
$599 System 1 synthesizer
$499 TR-8
$299 Tb-3 Touch bassline
$199 VT3 Voice transformer.

And I think they nailed the sound (enough) to be exactly what they claim.
For $500 that's perfect.

Now I gotta see the other videos. So far, so good.

Re: New stuff from Roland!

Do you know how hilariously pompous and pretentious you sound? Those aint the right two adjectives, but it's strange to make such a bold announcement and concern for such and slim margin. If you were worried about: 1) Cost, then I bet MANY would echo your sentiment..... 2) How it sounds IN COMPARIS...

Re: New stuff from Roland!

This is all about timing. Not only did KORG 'borrow' ideas from Roland's legacy, they also ruined their product line with their own offerings. And I think CommodoreJohn is trapped in a time warp . He was one of the few guys railing that ANALOG STUFFS IN 20XX was possible and this ENTIRE forum shoute...

Re: Are synthesizers for any one type of person?

So do you think that people who paint replicas of famous works are true artists? Again, there's YOUR word ....TRUE....that's your opinion. So there's no reason to go over it again. And your 'history lesson' doesn't make you right as I too, have had numerous history lessons (as I have a degree in fi...

Re: Are synthesizers for any one type of person?

If you're thinking about what genre you're making then you're not a real artist, you're just copying what other people have already done. Real artists just make the music and let other people worry about what genre to put things into afterwards. I dig a lot of this, but I'm not sure REAL is the cor...

Are synthesizers for any one type of person?

This (almost locked) thread post by Commodorejohn got me thinking and then asking.... Yeah, the MC-303 and company are good examples - you can usually tell these because the advertising is focused on "dance music! In a box!" or "hip-hop! In a box!" handy-dandy-touch-a-button-does-it-all-wonderbox hy...

Re: New stuff from Roland!

This is gonna be more EDM-in-a-box c**p, isn't it? Well, it's a funny thought since I remember when rap music was on top and everyone was upset about the sound design and general aim of products leaning that way. Everyone was doing demos- making beats and showing sampling. Everything had a sampling...
