I did not care for the sound at all. It didn't sound like a stringer to me. Where was the buzz of the divide-down osc tone, and where was the ensemble swirl? A big miss, IMHO.

Roland does make a software editor for it.

Re: Dirtiest sampler?

For analog sampling, the A5K (and A4K) can use the following rates: 44.1KHz, 22.05KHz, 11.025KHz, and 5.5125KHz. For the latter three rates, the antialias filter may be turned off. For digital sampling, the A5K (and A4K) can use the following rates: ext, ext/2, ext/4, ext/8, which is full rate, half...

Re: Dirtiest sampler?

Not what the OP wanted, but the Yamaha A5K can sample at low rates with the antialias filter turned off, and get all the digi-grunge you want.

Re: Moog MF-104Z Analogue delay

From something I said just the other day on another forum regarding my Moog MF-104SD Super Delay: ...the Moog excels in creating a delay voice that is out front, present, and with character. It is great as a lead voice - not one that sits back. Using it is like playing an instrument - it begs to be ...

Re: fazortan - good string machine effect plugin?

Seems like it would be perfect for getting those old-school string machine sounds if used with standard synth plugins. You'd still need to have some way of generating the ensemble effect to get those sounds - the plug you mention would only do the phasing. Solina has a triple-line, dual-LFO BBD del...

Re: Élkorus - New analog Solina / Elka chorus emulation

OK to fight the G.A.S. I'm going to try out d16 group's plug-in called fazortran http://www.d16.pl/index.php?menu=189 Costing about $45 US. It only has two LFO modulated paths with selectable offset phase between them. But if you plug-in another instance and set the depth of one to zero, you can ge...

Re: Do Audio Demos Affect Your Purchases?

I thought about it (and considered my gear), and the answer is yes for effects, less so for synths. Part of that might be the relative price difference - effects are usually less coin, and subject to inspired whims. Part might be that so many synth demos are post-effected, so I don't have the sense ...

Re: Do Audio Demos Affect Your Purchases?

Is it one thing to listen for snappy envelopes, responsive VCAs and precise sound, but something else to hear a great demo and think "Damn, I want that, that's exactly what I'm trying to accomplish?" Is the latter silly? If one has overlooked the nature of the gear in favor of enjoying the visceral...

Re: Help with Bus Compression in Logic 8

See, that I think is the issue... I've already mixed and loaded my tracks, then am trying to do the buss compression... I should've started with it. Aha, so you were meaning doing compression on the 2-buss, after a track was mixed. That's a whole other bag of tricks. Of course, you can do 2-buss st...

Re: Versatile and favorite sequencers: What's yours?

How's it feel to compose with the Octopus? Ever use it live? I was watching the videos and making patterns can be pretty fast when you know it. I don't truly and deeply know because I do not own one yet. What I do know from the afternoon I spent with one is that it is simply incredible - not just b...

Depends on the use. In general, it does. Simple waveforms work best with samples every fifth, or at least every octave, C1-C6.
