Re: Quick SH2 Troubleshoot

The fact it doesn't act up with the VCA gate engaged (thanks for that differential diagnosis clue) means the issue is almost certainly the key contacts.

This is based on others' reports of the SH-2 - mine does not exhibit this behaviour/symptom (yet).

Repeat this many times. [-o<

I love my Nord Modular G1. A sound that tickles my ear with patching flexibility that rarely leaves me wanting.

Re: Synth or Beat Machine for Tweakable Drum Sounds

In my experience, most fixed-architecture synths can deliver a few drum sounds, but they are not flexible enough to be used as a source for drums, nor do the sounds rank in terms of timbral quality with tools designed for the purpose. Of course, that could be a function of my skills, imagination, an...

Re: Élkorus - New analog Solina / Elka chorus emulation

Some more samples. Those are aimed at demonstrating different parameters and settings on the Elkorus. Raw synth: Korg M1. File titles should be self-explanatory. Thanks for this. I'm impressed that this device gives an analog character to both digital and sterile sounds. Good analog effects, both r...

Re: favorite reverb?

portland: I owned and used a Yamaha SPX-900 and SY99 in the past, and have a Yamaha A5000 now, so I am familiar with the Yamaha reverb algos. I also once owned a Korg SDD-3300. Based on that experience, your perspective makes a lot of sense to me, and I agree with you. I can get a good reverb out of...

Re: --=< aeon's strings >=--

That demo sounds great. I need to figure out how to use my Akai now... What's the source synth? I'm not going to comment on the source. ;) Let your ears be the judge - if it sounds good to you (or not) it is good (or not). I didn't want there to be bias as it concerns the use of this thing vs. that...

Re: --=< aeon's strings >=--

Thank you very much! If I get time this afternoon I'll put them into the V-Synth and see how they go, that demo of Yoozer's sounded fantastic! Of course if I make a V-Synth project with them I'll upload it for any other V-Synth users, if that's OK with you Ian? That's fine by me. If people want to ...

Re: favorite reverb?

That's why I use the Rumor in conjunction with other reverbs. That, and doing an OH-style track with it (the whole mix) and then slamming it with a dirty compressor. Plus, it's way too deep to just use the presets, which are nice enough in a pinch, but not suited to everything. this. Successful use...

--=< aeon's strings >=--

I recently programmed a synth sound that could be described as a string ensemble. Not the sound of a string machine, but the sound of a group of strings - synthy of course. You might say it has the sound of a "strings" waveform in a ROMpler, but without the artifacts of too-short looping and/or dyna...

Looks like offset from a dying capacitor.

But it could be something else. Time for a tech.

Get a multimeter reading on the power-supply lines first. I hope you can find a schematic for it.
