Re: CV Seqencers or Midi to CV converters
Kenton Pro-2000: Good: Versatile, triggers and the like. Midi Channel filter. Memory. Bad: Nothing tweakable, not a sequencer. No CC to CV control as far as I can tell. I checked on the Kenton to be sure - it also has CC to CV on its aux outs, any controller you want. Why are you not finding this i...

Re: CV Seqencers or Midi to CV converters
Encore Expressionist: Good: 8 programable CV and Gate outs. Versatile. Memory. Programmable outs. Bad: Bad: Nothing tweakable, not a sequencer. No CC to CV control as far as I can tell. The Encore Expressionist has CC to CV - lots of it in fact. For each CV channel there are 4 total mod sources. Th...

Does anything provide as good bass drum sounds as the MBase01?idiotboy wrote:New question: can the Vermona DRM-1 MKIII provide as good bass drum sounds as the MBase01?
As it concerns analog, nothing in my experience.

Re: Mono-only setups
I'm sure multi-tracking mono synths can yields new and interesting textures, what with all the happy accidents (unorthaxdox inverted chords, timing issues etc) that can happy, but at the end of the day it's just too much hassle IMO. Think about it, whilst hardware synths sound great they can be a r...

Re: Mono-only setups
i believe that limitations definetely generate productivity. but i dont see how layering monos can inspire new chord ideas - because when layering, i find i tend to just overdub the obvious notes of the chords - C CHORD : c, then e, then g etc. having the ability to play chords with my hands with n...

Re: Clone Theory on synths
Right now I'm looking for a versatile chorus pedal. I'm wondering how well the Clone Theory would be at creating ensemble effects? I'd like an Elkorus, but that's too much money for me, sadly. The Clone Theory will not do ensemble effects. The closest ensemble I know of for small coin is the Yamaha...

Re: Mungo Enterprises dDS drum synth
Sine wave and noise only? Buh. That "sine wave" has analog overdrive into a constant-power limiter. From the topology and the sound demo, it seems you can dial in all the harmonics you want. Granted, it is simpler in many ways than a 808 or 606 circuit. On the other hand, it has a unique voice too....

Re: Mungo Enterprises dDS drum synth
The audio clip did not make me jump and go DAMN, I AM GASSING. Me either, but that is more a function of my current cash flow, e.g., zero. As far as the basic tone goes, I quite liked it. It seemed flexible enough, but also with a very certain primitiveness. I generally don't like racks either...bu...

A trustworthy guy on the AH mailing list was selling a 10-voice XT for 399 euro.
That said, my 30-voice XTk will be going nowhere.

Re: The End Of Subtractive As We Know It....
Thanks for that, 23, I think I do understand your point better now. The JV (and later XV) machines from Roland are evolutions from the JD series as it concerns architecture. In this, I agree. That all said, you found it funny the number of people who would respect the JD-800 and then shrug off the M...

Re: Re:
I've always found that funny....just the sheer amount of people out there that held respect for the 800, but would shrug off the 505. Seeming not to realize that though the UI had been toned down, it VERY arguably was nothing but an 800 with significant additions to architecture and performance seq...
