Re: bit reduction pedal
Well...it's not a new pedal but you could use a simple on/off pedal with your Bitrman and leave the actual unit on your amp. When I use my Bitrman in the guitar rig (used to do it quite a bit but not as much these days) I use a Crate footswitch for it and that works fine.

Re: Korg MS-20 for the iPad
How would that work? The standard ipod/phone/pad connector to USB is not the same sort of male connector that most USB controllers have on the back. They have the half stop-sign female as opposed to the sort of rectangle ports that most computers have.

Re: Slim Phatty
Besides the Moog name recognition there is the issue of where would you buy DSI? I guess the GC's I've been to over the years have been better stocked! The GC in Lynnwood, WA (north of Seattle) had an Evolver early on. The GC in downtown Seattle had a Polyevolver once upon a time, but I haven't liv...

Gee, that could take up hours for me to list them all! The 80s were the decade of the synthesizer, although of course the 1970s could also lay about as much claim to it as the 80s could.

Re: Slim Phatty
didn't realize they could be had for so cheap. awesome. you think the mopho module sounds that great? it's hard to tell with videos. I bought a Mopho about two months after it came out. Loved it. I'd owned an Evolver before but did not like it at all. The Evolver is deep and is very easy to make in...

Re: Slim Phatty
haha i'm not made of money where i can just go pick them up, but it's just always been my dream to get a moog at some point, and a prophet at another, and maybe a jupiter 8. i might have to go for a moog first though since i have a micron and a 106. 800 seems steep though, even for an xmas gift. OK...

Re: Slim Phatty
would you guys rather get a tetra or a slim phatty? lately, i've been watching videos of a moog source and kinda want a moog now... Get them both. The DSI and Moog synths have an individual character. There's some crossover but enough difference to warrant having them both. And at $1600 if you buy ...

Re: Bass sound in "The Way It Is" by Bruce Hornsby & The Ran
I have this neat book I bought from Half Price Books a few months back, Keyboard Magazine Presents The Best of The '80s: The Artists, Instruments and Techniques of an Era . Inside is a reprint of Hornsby's July 1987 interview. In it he says used an "Oberheim OB-X and a Juno 106" on the album. No spe...

Loved mine when I had it. Would love to get one again when the price right and I'm positive that it doesn't have the dreaded output issues.

Re: Michael Hoenig Departure
Yes indeed. Departures From the Northern Wasteland stands right up there with Tangerine Dream's Phaedra for me as one of the genre's true masterpieces. Thanks for the info, Micke! I operate a music blog and anyone interested in hearing MP3's ripped from the original vinyl on both those Hoenig albums...

Re: What was the first digital-analog hybrid?
It wasn't like companies said "If we could create a synth which combined the benefits of digital wave oscillators and analog filters, we'd have the coolest synth ever!" No. I think it was more along the lines of "Why can't we get a synthesizer into every home or gig rig of someone who plays keyboar...

Re: MIDI: TETR4, Alpha Juno, AX-60, MP-113 Issues
The Alpha Juno/AX60 are both sending programming changes. You can either turn off the receive on the Tetra or (maybe) turn off programming sends on the keyboards. I don't know if those particular synths allow for it (I've owned both but never had that problem with them). I do know you can do that wi...

They've done it several times! Micromoog, Prodigy and Rogue were all budget-minded too.tekkentool wrote:They've done it before you know![]()
