Re: What Vintage Synth Would You Like to See Back in Production?
I'd be looking for pretty much the same thing I asked for the last time such a thread wound its way through VSE: a simple knob-per-function analog monosynth w/attached 3-octave keyboard. No patch memory. Simple MIDI and CV functions. Small, light, and under $1000. You know DSI can do this. You know ...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld... The Little Wonder Synth of The Decade!
I've had about four days with mine and all I've done really is gloss over the presets and edit one or two of them. Set up the LFO+PWM on a wavetable, throw on the delay and reverb, dim the lights and proceed to get seriously mellow. I think this one's a keeper. It seems to do so many things so well,...

Re: Moog Source vs. Little Phatty
It's not as intuitive as the Source's arp. You tap the arp button, play through the keys you want to scroll through then hit the first note you indicated again and away it goes.

Re: Moog Source vs. Little Phatty
I've owned both. I found the Source to be punchier, thicker and had a better triangle wave than the LP. That said, the LP hung with it surprisingly well, had more presets, more knobs, the keys felt nice and MIDI.

Re: SCI Pro-One vs Moog Source
I read somewhere that the Prodigy and Source use the same guts, though obviously the Source is under microprocessor control. I'd stay with what you've got.

Re: NEW DSI Tetr4 -4 voices of Mopho In a Box!
It has me thinking about upgrading my Mopho to it, if only for having real pots for filter cutoff/resonance instead of those incremental jobbies the Mopho has.

Re: NEW DSI Tetr4 -4 voices of Mopho In a Box!
Expect to see a flood of used Mophos hitting Ebay in 10, 9, 8, 7.... I think it's a pretty darn cool idea and I think will sell hand over fist, well, you know, what passes for hand over fist in the synth world. Personally, I'd rather just save the extra cheddar and buy a used Prophet 08 rack. But ye...

There are a handful I couldn't really live without:
SQ-8L (the one I used the most)
Stringer
Superwave P8

Re: Alesis USB-MIDI Cable Connects MIDI To Computers
The Alesis model requires no drivers. The chip in the cable does the work of translating the MIDI signal to USB as opposed to what the other manufacturers do (rely on software on your computer to make the translation). that's why it's so special, right?

Re: DSI MoPho
My biggest complaints about it though:
1. I really wish those knobs were more like what's on the MEK. Endless encoders. I don't like the clicks in the knob.
2. I wish the filter would track the keyboard better. All the Moogs I've owned do that flawlessly. The Mopho? Not so much.

Re: Name every synth/controller with mini-keys and MIDI you know
http://music.yamaha.com/products/main.html?productId=105071&hierarchy_id=16240_16244 Yamaha CBX-K1. I use one. Works like a charm. 3 octaves mini-keys w/pitch & mod wheels. There's another one they made with a general MIDI soundcard inside it and speakers. Casio MT-240 & MT-260. PCM sample synths. ...

Re: favorite instrument combinations
Micron + Oberheim Matrix-1000 can make for surprisingly robust "vintage" synth pads. I also doubled a Mopho triangle lead on a friend's alt-country track with a really filtered square lead on the Microcon I used to have and the two together really had a nice sparkle.

Re: Your Synth Setup is now Extinct!
I'll do this realistically, as in replacing my cheap-ass synths with other cheap-ass synths. I mean, who wouldn't want to replace a Mopho with a Minimoog! 1. DSI Mopho . If it died I'd probably save up and buy another Moog Little Phatty Stage . Maybe one that isn't ill. 2-3. E-Mu Vintage Keys Plus &...

Re: Name the synths : Isis concert in Montreal
SH-09. It's only 2 1/2 octaves. Isis is pretty bad-ass, as is Pelican. Cool show!
