Re: The Moog Source reliability
The Prodigy and The Source have the same innards and roughly the same sound (although The Source has more capabilities). I owned a Source for several years and never had any trouble with the membrane panel. Mine did however develop the "Crazy Source Syndrome" that has to do with oxidation in the pow...

Re: analog monosynth in 500usd range
What do you think of it so far? I liked it for bass. It's surprisingly ballsy for a little synth.supermel74 wrote:redchapterjubilee wrote:I just sold a Technosaurus Microcon II in your price range. 100% analog, MIDI, knobby and about the size of a VCR tape. Keep your eye out for one of those.

Re: Beginner's Synth?
The LP is perfect for learning on... and will sound better than most VAs. + 1 The synth I really began to learn subtractive synthesis on was the Moog MG-1, but really learned more about what I was doing on the Moog Source, which is basically the old school Little Phatty but with one knob. The Littl...

These Aren't the Droids You're Looking For
I rarely do this, but I have a new song that I threw on my brother's FTP this morning just so I could then get it up on MySpace today. I thought I'd share it on here. http://www.drumbeater.com/~kelly/great%20unwashed%20luminaries%20-%20These%20Aren't%20the%20Droids%20You're%20Looking%20For%204%20MyS...

Re: Little Phatty tuning & pitch wheel malfunctions
Figured it out with some help from Amos @ Moog Music. After a weekend of all kinds of calibrating I got my LP to behave.

Little Phatty tuning & pitch wheel malfunctions
Here's my issue. Two weeks ago I bought a used LP Stage. Oscillator 1 tracked the keyboard fine but Oscillator 2 did not. I recalibrated and still had the same issue. Contacted Amos @ Moog and he suggested I update the 2.0 OS. I did that and discovered that now some presets were WAAAYYYY out of tune...

Re: My $500 Prophet 5
I'm just glad one of us got the deal and not someone looking to flip it. I still regret not buying the Rev 3.3 I had a chance at three years ago for $1250. I had the money too since I'd just sold my entire vinyl collection but needed it as I was jobless at that point. Sigh.

Re: Differences between Alesis Ion and Micron?
Why don't you buy a Micron though? I've heard that thing is tiny... I have owned a Micron. They are fine synths and certainly tiny. Basically I'm selling off two synths and MIDI controller and buying one synth. Downsizing. Between the Matrix-1000, Alpha Juno, Vintage Keys & VSTi's I'm good for poly...

Re: Differences between Alesis Ion and Micron?
The Micron isn't that hard to program if you are use to alpha wheel editing. The Ion is mostly knob per function and you have a graphic display for what you are editing (real handy with the envelopes). These days you can be a used Ion for the same price as a new Micron. If you can handle the extra s...

Re: If you had to
Well, out of what I've got right now I suppose it would be the DSI Mopho and E-Mu Vintage Keys Plus. That pretty much covers me for bass, leads, pads & the all-important Mellotron strings.

Re: Mopho's sweet n' round sound?
I've had my Mopho for a month now, and it was bought specifically to replace an ailing Moog sound in my set-up. I am surprised by how much of the Moog tone I can cop with my Mopho, but I have reservations saying it's a great Moog replacement. It has a very round tone up top and can be as warm as it ...
