Re: CZ-10xV (PC-VSTi Plug-in)
I recently donated to the site to be able to download the CZ-10xV (VSTi-Plugin for PC) and all the other downloads, but I never received a response. I am able to login, but I still see a donate button instead of a download button (even after donating). When I tried to email the contact address, whi...

Re: why did they stop making analog synths?
Totally off-topic. I live in College Station, TX, the home of the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library. Pres. Bush the senior has a cute little apartment attached to the Library complex (which I've heard is decorated to look EXACTLY like his handful of other such apartments around the country so th...

Thank you! I'll load those samples up tonight. Maybe see if I can't do a little Mopho demo myself.griffin avid wrote:Thanks!![]()

Re: Great Kraftwerk video - Autobahn
It is awesome to be able to get a visualization for how these guys actually went about making music at that time. I wish there was more video of it as well as other electro artists from that period up to '90s. I have only made electro music since the VST age I really don't have a firm grasp on exact...

Re: DSI MoPho
I've spent a little bit of time with mine, mostly jogging through the presets and beginning to reprogram some of the sounds I had in the Source and other analogs. I'm still somewhat amazed by it. PROS - It's got the sound. I dialed up an awesome double saws lead that is practically identical to the ...

Re: Looks like everyone has caught onto Ensoniq synths
I have kept my eye out for several years for a used ESQ-M or a Kawai K3M because I'm really intrigued by the combination of CEM's and lo-fi digital samples but I've never found one when I've got the money. I'll have to keep looking.

Re: Moog might be considering a new polysynth...
I still think we're liable to see an LP rack or desktop module (ala Mopho) sooner than we're likely to see a new polyphonic synth from Moog. I think if it doesn't outright kill the company that it would seriously hinder what the company could do R&D-wise for years to come. Then again, I can't think ...

Re: Need cash, should I sell my JX 8P, or JUNO 2
The Alpha Juno is very easy to program and with the data wheel you can have some real-time manipulation. It's like the Source. People talked it down because it wasn't 100% knobby. There are certainly degrees of difficulty among non-knobby preset synths, and these aren't really that difficult.

Neither are really worth much these days. I don't really know why since both are excellent synths. Keep them both if you can.

Megawatt kicks a*s. Within a week his old Mopho was here and after cruising the presets I think I've got a good modern monosynth now to work with. Real happy like. Stand up guy, he is.

Re: What was the ultimate drum machine of the '80's?
Interesting writeup, Red. I just hope that when the '90s come back, they'll skip over the Crash Test Dummies. #-o There are certainly overused '90s musical cliches too. The filtered hip-hop drum loop in pop music, telephone-filtered vocals, etc. Autotune à la Cher (Believe)... That was the touchsto...

Re: Coldplay X&Y Album string sounds
If you look on the inside of the album sleeve there is a bandroom photo of the band jamming and Chris Martin is sitting behind a CS-80. So maybe that's what he's using? I've seen them onstage with a Voyager but I think the synth playing comes from offstage live.

Re: What was the ultimate drum machine of the '80's?
Wow! There's a lot to wade through here and answer to. So I'll get to crackin'! The drum machine of the '80s could probably be spread out to two halves of the decade. The first half would have to be the Linndrum. And if not that actual synth, I'd say the concept behind the Linndrum that spread out t...
