Re: Do you have patches that you use over and over?

Oh yeah, I use a lot of the same sounds repeatedly throughout my music. - Moog Source preset 2. It's just a straight double saws lead with a tiny bit of filter envelope and slight detuning against each other. Use that one a lot. - E-Mu Vintage Keys Plus mellotron strings. Used so often I force mysel...

Re: Well, after all that trouble, I got my first synth!!

I used a friend's Micromoog when I toured the Northwest earlier this year. Easy to use and seriously burly for a single oscillator synth. You'll love it. Hope it works when you get it! The auction description looked kinda shady.

Re: NEW REAL OBERHEIM! Don Buchla! Dave Smith! Roger Linn!

It would have to be MIDI-capable, but probably with some CV control for you modular dudes too. Kinda like the Little Phatty design. Patch memory would be nice but not necessary. If you wanted something analog with memory there would be other options. I'm totally excited by this! I doubt I'll be able...

Re: Any thoughts on the Gmedia Virtual String Machine?

Another vote of kudos for Stringer. It has completely solved my yearning for VSM. Samples are nice and my VST host likes it.

Re: DSI MoPho

I hope to pick one up in the next month. I've got almost all the $$ together for it. Between Keyboard Wizard and Stefan's demos I think I'll be happy with it.

Re: Moog The Source problem

I've read that one of the symptoms of "crazy Source syndrome" is an inability to stay in tune. Mine did not have that trouble, but that could be what you're experiencing. Check out the info at http://www.drumbeater.com/~kelly/Moog%2 ... resources/

Re: Synthesizer : Pro User / VSE'r Association

I'm flattered y'all think of me when you think of the Source! Of course, having a picture of me at it for my avatar certainly helps. Let's see if I can fill in gaps: Moog Taurus: Rush, U2 Minimoog: Jan Hammer, Rush Oberheim OB-X: Rush, Prince DX7: Brian Eno, Whitney Houston (the Greatest Love of All...

Re: Your philosophy in building a studio setup?

I didn't really have a philosophy when I first started out, but as a I acquired the type of gear that has remained in my rig I've tended to keep myself to the following items: laptop + MIDI controller Vintage Keys Plus + MIDI controller some sort of analog or virtual analog polysynth an analog monos...

Re: DSI MoPho

in this price range, id definetely grab a sh-09. Here's the sad thing. You can't really buy an analog monosynth for $400 anymore. Occasionally you find a deal but for the most part, aside from the occasional Bass Station, TB rackmount clone and CS01, you're spending more than this. The MoPho should...

Re: DSI MoPho

If DSI's suggested price is $439 then Novamusik and AudioMIDI will come in at or right below $400. A 100% analog monosynth with some real-time control. With 8 knobs there will be plenty of control. I've had Microns and found them to have plenty of control for live work, though you have to set it up ...

Wow, and this hits just as I'm looking for another analog mono around $400 to back up my ailing Source. Man, I'd buy this today!

Re: odd little question...what're you letting master your setup?

I do it two ways: 1. establish the BPM within my DAW and record live instruments to the click. I'll usually then add something programmed from Reason into it later; or 2. I program something into Reason and record it into my DAW, adding instruments later. I have no MIDI sequencer. If it's not within...
