Re: Deepmind 12 High Pitched Noise

Without opening it up and going over it with a scope and the schematics, it's impossible to say.

Re: DX Mk1 - dead battery or something else?

My advice is to take it back to the seller and not buy it.

Re: Pitch wheel adjust

It has to be set on the Model D, not your keyboard, and it has to be done using Behringer's free editor or sending specific MIDI messages to the unit. The editor is easier, trust me. Download the editor and you'll locate the setting easily.

Better to be safe than sorry. Do a backup. The software I linked is free.

Re: Korg T3 oscillator sounds (raw) missing

The T3 manual says there are two program banks, A00-A99 and B00-B99. Each program has access to 190 oscillator waveforms in ROM plus more if PCM Data cards are inserted. Are you saying that in bank A you can select from 190 waveforms and in bank B you cannot? Do you have any cards inserted?

Re: What happened to Kurzweil?

Kurzweil was purchased by a Korean piano mfr named Young Chang in 1990. They are very much in business, coming out with new models that are mostly refinements of the K2000 series. The reason for the lack of 61 key models is that from day one with the Kurzweil 250 the big attraction was to pianists. ...

Re: A question about midi through and usb

Yes, that is how MIDI THRU is supposed to work. No settings needed at all in the Virus other than choosing a MIDI channel. From the Moog manual p.32: The third page of the MIDI Setup menu allows you to select the MIDI input connection. Since the SP offers both MIDI DIN and USB connec- tions, several...

Re: "Casioheim" video

CZ-5000 was my first synth, my "poor man's ESQ-1" with the 8 track sequencer and 8 voices. I dl'ed a huge archive of patches in text from an FTP server at some midwestern university I found out about on the USENET at rec.music.makers.synth. Spent many nights punching in parameters and trying to figu...

I'm asking your opinions, which one do you think sounds right on the sound?
Your opinion is all that matters.

Which one do you like better? Why?

Re: What was the synth on Buddy Holly's “love is strange” ?

The 1959 recording is a short demo of Buddy singing and playing guitar. The rest of the song, including that keyboard, was overdubbed in 1968 and released in 1969.

Sounds like a combo organ to me.

Yes, you need to do a full dump of all the data before replacing the battery. Read the section in the manual about doing dumps over MIDI to your computer.

Reverb always last because it's function is to emulate the sound of a real acoustic environment. Chorus and delay, not so much.

Re: Synths and Drum Machine in 'The Chauffeur

Don't get too hung about a particular synth just because of what you heard on a few recordings. Don't forget that a lot of the artists ditched those instruments when something better came along. Make sure it can do a lot of different things that you just can't get from other instruments before you g...
