What was your experience with the 707? It's basically a Yamaha FB01 synth engine with a keyboard and a quasi-subtractive programming interface. Same as the DS-8 but fewer keys and M1-like styling. Ran on batteries (keytar alert!!). The bad news was that the easier programming meant you lost full co...

From Sound on Sound's review of the MkII:

"It took several years for Cwejman to find manufacturing facilities in Sweden (his adopted homeland) which met his exacting construction standards, and the initial release of the S1 in 2003 was followed by a design re-think."

Re: Ensoniq EPS

Can anyone tell me what it means that the filters aren't resonant? It means they aren't resonant :? Analog filters used in synthesizers typically have controls for cutoff frequency and resonance (or "Q"). Increasing resonance makes the filter pass more signal near the cutoff frequency, creating chi...

how many different pieces can you usually split a single CV signal (via Multiples or Y-cables) and still have it be usable? And are there signal-boosting modules that allow for further splitting? Loading down of CV voltages depends on the drive capability of the source and the impedance of the dest...

For multiples, it's cheaper just to get some 1/8" Y-cords. Yeah, not elegant but a far better solution than buying a Doepfer rack!

Yes, you can connect MK -> BCR -> Evo to do what you want. External control of all 127 program parameters is only possible by sys-ex, not the BCR2000's strong suit. It's really meant for CC control. OS 2.0 supports only the following CCs: 1 Mod Wheel 2 Breath Controller 3 Foot Controller (on most sy...

The Arturia programs are CPU hogs and you will find it easy to overload your PC...especially with so little RAM. You'll be much better running on the MacBook. As far as other programs to consider, there dozens of commercial packages and hundreds if not thousands of freeware/shareware VSTs you could ...

It means the computer is sending the data faster than the DX can accept it. Slow down the transmission (most librarians have ways to do this).

Any synthesizer you can buy for less than $200 is underestimated. Even the worst of the early digitals are usable (and useful) instruments.
