Why does he need a synth for that? sounds just like an electric guitar, which is his main instrument, afterall

The Miniak is a scaled down Micron with an added microphone. And the Micron is a scaled down Ion. But they added a few more effects like a delay and reverb and a step sequencer on the Micron.

A factory reset is a good idea anyway, you have no idea what settings the previous owner had tampered with and left on. It resets everything (including user stored patches) to out-of-the-box. Always the first thing I figure out how to do when I get a used synth. I had some issues with my pitch bend ...

I think all the ARP synths are hard to instantly click with, since they went so out of their way to be DIFFERENT from the Moogs of the era. Yeah, I also loved the way he combined white noise splashes with "sparklies" to create splash cymbal-like sounds. It's a great album. They tried to create an entire orchestra with only synthesizers (and a bunch of choir singers) and I think it worked pretty well.
