If you're prepared to write 100 lines of code just to initiate a sawtooth wave, be my guest ^^

Re: Synthex 2
I wouldn't be surprised. Some finnish dudes buy a large warehouse, finds lots of Synthex parts and boards and decides to do a remake and make billions of dollars.
Mario Maggi catches the news and goes "Hey umm..I made this back in 1983. I don't get credit? f**k you"

Re: Synthex 2
A digital VA synth vs a recreation of the original with original parts. Depends on the price difference I suppose. I doubt the finnish guys will reach that indiegogo goal, but I think Indiegogo lets you keep the money even if the goal isn't reached, unlike kickstarter? And Maggi has the name attache...

I'd imagine he tries out the patch, says "oh that's cool", then goes back to sit on his his mountain made of real guitars.

Re: Prophet 6
Why does he need a synth for that? sounds just like an electric guitar, which is his main instrument, afterall
I find it hard to imagine Iommi shredding on a keytar, the man is responsible for some of the best guitar riffs mankind has ever heard.

Re: Alesis Ion problems
Yeah but an OS upgrade might weed out some bugs that have appeared during the years. Kind of like blowing out the insides of a 70s synth with a can of compressed air. Remember that the Ion is practically a vintage computer already, it came out in 2003. But yeah, a properly working Ion should have fa...

Re: Alesis Ion problems
The Miniak is a scaled down Micron with an added microphone. And the Micron is a scaled down Ion. But they added a few more effects like a delay and reverb and a step sequencer on the Micron.
The Ion is still the big daddy of the lot.

Re: kawai sx-240 on ebay for lols
No, truly weighted would be replacing the keyboard with a lead plate. Who would wanna stack something on top of a sx-240 anyway? It's not like it's a huge synth in the first place. And besides, when you're putting something atop the missing keyboard, aren't you just blocking access to the synth's pa...

Re: New Elka Synthex?
I suppose Elka had shut down so they couldn't get their hands on those parts. They were just nesting in some huge warehouse.

Re: Alesis Ion problems
A factory reset is a good idea anyway, you have no idea what settings the previous owner had tampered with and left on. It resets everything (including user stored patches) to out-of-the-box. Always the first thing I figure out how to do when I get a used synth. I had some issues with my pitch bend ...

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey
I think all the ARP synths are hard to instantly click with, since they went so out of their way to be DIFFERENT from the Moogs of the era. It's like they studied the Minimoog's layout and said "OK, we shall do everything different but still keep the same sound". So you get lost in the mass of slide...

I guess he didn't pull the price out of his butt, then. A tough sell with a wood plank replacing the keyboard though.

Re: New Elka Synthex?
I suck at electronics, but I'd pay that guy to make me one ^^ I've seen several blog/projects of perfectly working laser harps. Although it would probably never see the outside of my livingroom anyway. Jarre has made so many versions of it for various tours. I like the one where the lasers bend at t...

Re: New Elka Synthex?
Yeah, I also loved the way he combined white noise splashes with "sparklies" to create splash cymbal-like sounds. It's a great album. They tried to create an entire orchestra with only synthesizers (and a bunch of choir singers) and I think it worked pretty well.
