Re: How to make a bass sound like this?

It isn't exactly the same as the sound in that video but it's very similar - Preset 16 - BASS.2 on cartridge 1A of the DX7 (the 1st model). That preset was used on "Nightshift" by The Commodores (1985) and "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin (1986) among others. A demo of the sound can be found here: h...

Re: Help me please identify this synth

It is something digital. I would guess it's a Korg Trinity, or something similar from that era.

Re: Lead Synth on A-Ha's Take on Me?

FXs left from Mansfield's multitrack, and it was fairlight. Prophet 5 on pads- that is 100%. There's no evidence of this. Tarney doesn't mention the P5 once in the SOS article, and the Tarney version is clearly a new take. It's a different drum track and none of the Mansfield Fairlight effects surv...

Yes, that was an excellent staff.

BTW, Micke, don't you accidentally know, what's been used in here? Especially that sequence and the bass.

Re: To the person who snapped up the Jupiter 8 for 3500

some days, the bear gets you. i happened to get the bear that day. for the record, it needs work. voice #5 is dead. the mod button is either shot, or needs an extremely thorough cleaning. the whole thing is massively out of calibration-autotune doesnt get the remaining 7 voices in tune enough to re...

Actually I think it was programmed pretty bad, I could've done better, but the main idea is there.

Re: Guess the synth (Blade Runner edition)

It's a simple patch, and good choice to illustrate some of the tonal differences I think. Nice work. I don't know why the CS-xx-M models aren't more popular... they sound fantastic. My 40m needs repair at the moment, but when it works, it's a beast for special effects and sounds big in a way stuff ...

Re: Lead Synth on A-Ha's Take on Me?

The main lead is Juno 60 layerd with dx7, it's been discussed about 1000 times! The Pad sound is Prophet5!! The bassline is DX7! The bell sound is PPG!!Fairlight for FXs!! Not so sure there's any Fairlight on the Alan Tarney produced version. It's all over Tony original 7' version though. Are you s...
