Well unlikely I'll do another along the same lines... although trying to stray from my usual style/sound a bit at the moment.

Got into sampling a fair bit currently with the ESI, hopefully with the EMU II too sometime in the near future.

Cheers for all the replies, glad it was enjoyable.

Hello Julian, had a listen briefly to all tracks of both albums. It's very good overall, definately capturing the sound of an 80's action series, not that I've seen Street Hawk myself...

Your music is very professional sounding and enjoyable. Thanks for sharing.

Same here, still nice sounding though. Interesting tracks overall, liked Birth Canal in particular.

very DM yet I cant put my finger on a particular period, it seems like it takes elements from many Well that was my thought too, the drums are quite Blasphemous Rumours sounding, my favourite DM track of all time. Drums, crashes and clangs etc. come from the Industrial Kit of the 'Techno' Roland JV...

Impact - Depeche Mode influenced.

Would like to say I did this one with the new EMU II I've picked up, but alas... it's not back to health yet. Anyway, here's one for any Depeche Mode fans (hopefully). Heavily DM influenced from Construction Time Again to Black Celebration period (?) It's almost all V-Synth & XP50 but with intro sou...

I would consider getting something along the lines of a Juno 60 Exactly what I was thinking. As a first synth this would be an excellent choice, the best of the Juno range IMO. Simple to figure out, good sounds, DCB - MIDI connectivity, memories, six voices so pads are still achievable, not expensi...

Trust you realise this is a midi controller keyboard with no synth engine in it.... had one of these for a while but had to send it back as was faulty AND never got it to link up properly with PC. Probably just me/mine though, if soft synths is now the way for you, pretty sure this comes bundled wit...

Re: ....

seems to be the 3.5" disk drive, which is missing). I'm waiting for a response from the seller for I believe that to replace the disk drive SHOULD be a snap. One last thing, the XP-30 can produce the same sounds as the XP-50 right, it is the same synthesizer right? The XP's do not use typical PC ty...

Anything bought out of curiosity but not giving anything particularly different usually goes within six months due to lack of space.

From the core bits of kit I have, reckon I'd buy same again. Quite happy with the 5 synths and one sampler I have at the moment (OBXa still absent).

Hello Paul,

XP50 is a fine choice IMO. Wide range of good sounds, expandable, reliable, not too expensive S/H and not difficult to get your head round. I've had one for five years now and is still frequently used.

Re: Best Modern Setup for 80s Style Sounds

such as Human League, Depeche Mode, OMD, Yazoo etc... Well these make me think vintage mono; Pro One, Prodigy amongst others but you want modern.... presuming you want a range of sounds; bass, lead, pads etc...? Closest I've come to 80's sounds with one modern synth is probably the Korg Radias or a...
