Re: Performing Solo Live
It's possible to load and trigger MIDI patterns with an MPC1000? Is this like "hit a pad, play a pattern" or how do you guys use this functionality? yes it is possible. You can hit a pad play a pattern but I actually like having a base pattern with correct drum.synth/fx sounds loaded up and beat and...

Re: Performing Solo Live
Here's the ironic part: There are two very very different views on what constitutes a good live set. as a producer you consider some things as "cheating" as part of a live set. Backing tracks? Eff that, you should be sequencing live. Or something like that. Backing tracks are "cheating" amirite? You...

Re: New Mono Synth from Vermona
bump to see if anyone has bought a Mono Lancet yet. I'm really thinking about getting one, but would like to read some reviews. I'm also concerned about tuning stability - will it hold it tuning through a live show? It was reviewed in a recent Sound on Sound magazine. I think either October or Sept...

Glitch Mob uses Effectrix. Seems to be the standard on Mac for glitch FX.

Re: Anything like a desktop micron?
+1, came here to say that. Blofeld is easier to program than micron with the big screen and visible matrix and that makes it more powerful than the powerful yet so interface-restricted micron.Stab Frenzy wrote:Blofeld

Re: Most compact and versatile live-setup?
I took a dr-110 and mini-KP on a plane with me, very fun combo. I used to also jam those + a circuit bent casio sk-1.novielo wrote:when everything was packed because i was moving, i only had a dr-110 and a kp3 at my disposal. it actualy turned out very nice to have that limited power.

Re: Synths with Easter Eggs
(we're kind of getting into weird glitches with synths so with that in mind...) With the Juno-106 you can do an awesome sound by: - forcing each voice chip to a different note (in poly mode play 6 notes one at a time or as a chord) - turning on unison and put portamento/glide all the way up - press ...

I put it in my cart assuming it'd say "Haha"
It didn't, so I clicked "check out" assuming it'd say "haha".
It didn't, so....

(just kidding, I stopped there)

I did not use mine long enough to realize that, but that's definitely a big limitation if you plan on growing your setup (and who doesn't)meatballfulton wrote:I vote against the DR-550. No MIDI out!!! Means there's no way to back up your programming, plus it can't be a MIDI clock master.

Re: Control surface - Korg nanoKontrol or Novation Nocturn?
I used the NanoKontrol with a novation launchpad for a bit with ableton live. It does what it says it does. The knobs are fine but the faders are a bit wobbly (as you'd expect on a $50 item).

Re: Drum Machine
Boss DR-550 is a great choice: super cheap, and lots of sounds in it. Alternately an Korg Electribe ES-1 is about that price and has effects and you can load your own drum sounds into it via the smartmedia card. Or if you can find one the Korg Electribe EM-1 is a great drum machine and also has 2 sy...

Re: Mopho keyboard update
I love mine. When I get gear lust I start imagining myself swapping it out for a virus B and saving up for a monomachine, but then I play it and hours go by while I make funky patches. I really wish the filter was multimode, though. It's a lot of fun to make a patch seem "alive" by adding slight bit...
