Re: Blofeld Vs. X-Station Vs. AN1x

I've experienced on the blofeld: - hanging notes once or twice - certain osc types disappearing (IE osc2 couldn't be a wavetable or a squarewave, until a reboot.. they'd make no sound) But I love it to death. Somehow the interface is the best interface for me personally I could ever wish for. I don'...

Re: why or how did you choose 'x' application to your synth

Figure it out for yourself. A lot of people will look at the blofeld and say with it's intense modulation ability and wavetables that it is a pad machine. While it is a great pad machine, it's also an excellent standard VA and can do amazing basses, leads, arpeggios.

Re: Dumbest thing you've ever heard someone say about synths

I still do not understand what's wrong with playing only the synths without a mixer... Nothing. I used to submix all my stuff on stage, and found incorrectly mixing based on what I could hear in my monitors. Now I send my drums and synths to the bar's sound man and let him mix them from the back of...

Re: The Official 'Secrets of the Studio' Thread!

A few tips from iProg: - When recording a polysynth when playing chords: make an identical track with the same sound only changing little of the cutoff, this truly adds analog vibe to any sound. Or.. .get a synth with dual filters that can be run in parallel! :) I do this alot in my blofeld Definit...

Re: Dumbest thing you've ever heard someone say about synths

After a gig some chick complemented me on my "keyboarding". Uhhh.. this is not grade 10 computer class so f**k off. Dude, she was probably just tryna get in your pants and you blew it. #-o She was, but I'm happily in a relationship so I get to respond to pickup attempts with a ranking on "how did y...

Re: What is the stupidest accident you've had with you gear?

I should add the time during a gig my bassist was beat-boxing through a vocoder and decided to swing the mic over his head.. the mic detached from the XLR connection, flew through the air, and knocked a beer bottle off of another band's marshall stack. It was pretty impressive actually, and somehow ...

Now headphone out doesn't work. f**k. Although I mi...

Thanks! Thats the highest praise one can give a reviewer in my books.. most reviews I've found are of the type "we tried 6!! and they were all awesome!! each one awesomer than the next!! I'd get all of them!!!"

Site indexing/ranking sample libraries?

I've never bought a sample library, but have a distinct need for a percussion library to get me away from using nothing but 808/909 samples and my mfb-503. Is there a site that ranks/indexes sample libraries, similiar to VSE's index of synths? Googling often finds me sample sets that look to be real...

Re: Non-volatile memory on the oxygen series

Asking this question implies you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what is happening in your set up. I don't mean this as an insult, I'm just letting you know. the controller sends MIDI data to the computer. The computer accepts the MIDI data and generates audio. Audio comes out the computer. T...

I just realized, this is probably the only benefit of the 80s-style "membrane keys" like those on a roland alpha juno 1. "Survives sandpit gigs"

Re: live gig in a sandpitt, how to make the gears survive?

Best way I know to deal with nerves is to practice, practice, practice. Humans find comfort in routines, if you know your live set well enough that it is a routine to you then you can block out the nerves and should be able to find comfort in the live set.

seems like the free os doesn't work with the pad upgrade. i asked on the thread what is that silicone mod with the pads. by the way i red your blog on woopwoop . i didn't tought english people (well, of course not everybody) of canada had that reaction about the cuts in arts subventions. Weird that...
