Re: RWRP guitar pickups
Sounds normal for any single coil pickup I've ever used.
Best I can recommend is to shield the pickup body cavities with foil, which isn't going to eliminate the noise, but will cut back a fair bit. A bit of a pain in the a*s of a chore though.

Re: RWRP guitar pickups
Does the hum stop when you touch ground (like a metal chassis pedal it runs into?)

Re: Alesis SR 18...is it worth it for Electro?
The manuals for both the SR18 and XR20 are available online. Both have MIDI in/out and you can set them to be either slave or master. In short, you can do whatever you need to with it in your DAW. Do you know if the slave mode works in real life? I ask this because the Zoom StreetBoxx I used to hav...

I wouldn't get hung up on the name aspect, Numark made both the Alesis and the Akai.
And yes, there are plenty of electronic sounds.

Re: Cheap shipping from USA..
USPS, by far. If you ever feel the need to ship internationally from UPS, just find somebody to anally rape you while you throw money from a moving car, you'll get the same results either way.

Re: drum machines w/ individual outs
Y'all don't use near enough drums in a mix. I could really use a drum machine with 16 outputs, and even then I would have to double up with 2 samples per out. What can I say? I'm a control freak that layers on percussion like he's a cut rate young Jim Thirwell.

Re: E-mu ESI 4000-- is it dope?
I'm not sure I would consider many of those 90s rack samplers as "that sound" machines. They do impart a color, but nothing like an Emax, Mirage, or S612.

Re: E-mu ESI 4000-- is it dope?
I have been doing some "sample based hip hop" (for lack of a better term) with my ESX and have been 100% pleased with the results. I could never go back to battling a rack sampler into doing what I need to it to again, at least for beats, etc. If you really want to go for an E-mu sampler, the ESIs a...

The Virus is going to be able to cover a h**l of a lot more ground and does great basses. It's the composer, not the gear.

Re: A New Synthesizer
While a computer is required to create completely new patches, All Nord modulars will work without being connected to a computer, although I'd hate to try that with a G2 Rack(you know, the one with no hands on control). I would suggest a Nord modular G2, as it will be easier to use and the editor o...

Re: Tascam or Zoom?
Korg D888 +1 What are your thouhgts? Well, you couldn't have chosen two very different digital multitrack recorders. It looks like the R16 was really geared towards being able to interface with the computer as its main purpose, but just so happens to have digital multitracking as a stand alone as w...
