Let's not forget the good 'ol mellotrons, TD used them often for lead lines back in the '70s. Micke yep they used them for pretty much everything, and those usually aint hard to identify. but main theme (carrying the album) was mostly reserved for a monosynth, and this always left room for speculat...

Edgar an Chris plays the Minimoog on "Logos". Johannes play the Minimoog on Pergamon/Quichotte. theres also minimoog all over Exit, sharing lead duties with Wave2. but afaik its true that in the mid70 golden period of stratoshere, rubycon or force majeure, they werent using minis. most lead lines c...

at the moment the synth that brings me most joy whenever i use it is Jupiter 8. why? well many things have been written bout this subject, but in a few lines, it just sounds so damn good, whatever i do with it. and i just love its trademark character be it in the filter, the oscillators or snappy en...

afaik West End Girls string is EII, but it sounds as if layered with somthin analoguish beneath - ive toyed with EII strings and it had the similar edge n detail, but overall the sampler lacked the girth of the sound on the recording. just speculating .. btw, Micke what board is that bass line .. po...

i gigged with my jup8, and it was the most stable synth on our analog roster, of them all. including A6. it tunes in a sec, and stays tuned thruout the concert. unelievable. call me crazy, but for sheer built-like-a-tank factor id take jup8 everywhere rahter than any plastic/encoder/lcd thingie of t...

id say overlap is almost non existant, they excell in such different duties. each of the characters is so unique and beautiful, its pointless to compare. you gotta have both. oh, and OB-X too. 8) of course, CS is more expressive in performance. unfortunately, ill probably have to part with mine soon...

Alesis Ion vs. Roland SH-201 ? Ion all the way. i feel 201 is a toy, absolutely worst soundin VA. my frined has it, and called me in a few times to try it out. terrible filter, resonance, and osc and env controls just dont behave i.e. give results you'd expect form an analouge, or a reasonably good ...

yes. yes. not nasty, tho oscillator sync is really great. it sure can do more than pads. voxpads, resonant sweeps, softbrass, bells, pure square leads.. etc.. even tho it hanst a dedicated cotnrol for this, it is possible to create PWM on JX, tho u need two osc for one to do PWM properly with all mo...

id sell Juno for top dollar. Nord is different character sure, but in the end of the day, far more usable and versatile. and besides, if u r perhaps thinking about VA/RA issue on this one, there are much much nicer real analogs than Juno106, that could justify it, but i wouldnt sweat it much over a ...

Re: Sweet spot synths...?
I find some synths just sound sweet. What ever you do it sounds good. Here are my 2 suggestions. Jupiter 8...Just one big fat sweetspot. It's impossible to make it sound c**p. OBX....Just warm and friendly. couldn't agree with you more. Jupiter 8 is my absolute choice for one huge sweet spot. OBX j...

well let me put it the other way - it sounds like c**p. i have many of the synths sampled for this lib, and this lib is highly unrepresentative of their sound. overall it just sounds plastic and thin. real synth just behaves so differently than set of fixed multisamples triggered from a kbd. aint or...
