Re: D16 does 606

When I was downloading the group buy package, I spotted a non-working link called "Syntorus". Wonder what that is.

No, it doesn't. They're mini-keys, only waterfall ones.

Re: Help me, what should I buy?

Since everyone needs help with what they should buy, you probably should've named this topic "Cheaper alternative for Monomachine / Spectralis". While it doesn't hold a candle to a Monomachine, rather consider a Yamaha DX200. Quirky, rough sound, hands-on control and cheap. The AN is a bit more vani...

That is a thing of beauty.

The keys on the left of the middle look a bit wobbly, though.

Re: Headphones - what do you use?

I love the soft cushions of my Philips SBC HP890. http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/1127/0901030s.gif Never understood why they discontinued these. If I ever have to replace these, the AKG 701/702s look nice and soft. Before these, I had Sennheiser HD 497s which clamped my head in a vise, hurt my e...

Re: Hartmann Neuron: Does a good demo exist?

Why one would go out and buy a synth of such a caliber and price point without any kind of serious willingness to deal with the learning curve that comes with getting to know it baffles me. Because the thing had bugs that were never solved due to the company filing bankruptcy? The plugin version ha...

Re: waldorf edition software thoughts

- What hardware are you selling?
- You already have an audio interface and sequencing software?
- Why are you replacing it with these old plugins? Quality has gone up, and there's much nicer stuff to be had.

Re: Logic Plugin question

Is .dll windows specific? Dynamic-link library (also written without the hyphen), or DLL, is Microsoft's implementation of the shared library concept in the Microsoft Windows and OS/2 operating systems. Yeah :). Your only chance to get it to work is to run a Windows installation in a virtual machin...

Re: help me with Pad sounds

The pad sounds in "Older" are just orchestral strings - whether they're sampled or not, I'm not going to guess. Ditto for Fast Love (although they might be EQd down a bit to blend in the background better). "You Know That I want To" has something Ice Rain-ish going on in the background (which is a w...

Re: Logic Plugin question

There are no DLL plugins, and Logic doesn't do VSTs ( by itself ), and you could've found out with Google. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic-link_library < that's what a DLL is. The fact that they're just .dll files (and that's it) is because all you really need to do is to copy said file to the ...

Re: DX7 vs TX7?

If you have both machines on the same MIDI channel, you'll have the sound of two machines but you'll still be stuck with 16-voice polyphony. So you can still get 32 voices but you just need a different solution to allocate notes. Still, 16 voices with 2-voice unison (with the same patch and slightl...

Re: switch from hardware to software, advice needed!

Would something like the Echo 3G or Layla 3G be suitable to run with said Macbook? Do you already own these things or what's the reason that you pick these? The Layla 3G needs a PCI card, and so does the Echo. PCI cards do not fit into laptops which means that you either have to pick Firewire or USB.

Re: switch from hardware to software, advice needed!

So i'm thinking i'll need a Laptop (Not sure what spec i'd need though) The matter of Mac vs. PC is completely moot; the only real criterium is - what does your sequencer run on? With Logic and DP > OS X. With FL Studio and Sonar > Windows. The Macbooks can be compared 1:1 with their PC counterpart...

Re: Roland D20 and Reaper

It's not stupid :). If you make a new MIDI track in Reaper, it may be that it reacts only to MIDI channel 1. If your D20 is sending at MIDI channel 6, you have to change this. If you bought your D20 secondhand, the previous owner might've had a setup that required this (using the MIDI thru), but oth...
