Glad to hear you're going the traditional route though, have to admit I'm always disappointed when I see a laptop in someone's rig, especially live. I personally find the laptop interesting; there's lots of very innovative homebrewn sound machines for say, Reaktor. That stuff will only run on a lap...

Don't underestimate the compressor; use mild settings and things can get very crispy in the bass and lead domain.

Audacity is a wave-editor and recorder. What you are looking for will probably work better with something else. How did they line everything up in the old days? Well, 4 beeps or something at a certain point so you'd know the tempo was correct, and there you go. Synchronize the tapes by lining up the...

The wife says they can't stay though (she thinks I have enough keyboards).
(only if applicable) - demand that you'll get rid of them if she gets rid of her pairs of shoes ;).

I've heard this one at the Musikmesse in 2005, and I liked it a lot.

Sadly, the manufacturer's homepage no longer works for some reason. Also, it lacks MIDI.

It's basically the same principle as Bluesynths - just a review, in-depth look at the features, some history and sound examples, no tutorial on how to create what.

If you look at the pictures on the left - well, there are the workshops. Albeit that I agree that a more correct naming would be "review" and "demo" since it doesn't teach you that much.

It would only be fair if the rest of those are added, too: http://www.synthesizer.at/download/download.htm (requires you to understand German, though) Bottom of the page has a lot of workshops with some great sounds. Instead of dry demos, these sounds often have effects (modest, though) - it gives y...

http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/allsynthsecrets.htm That said I'm not surprised if this is not going to be of much use. This has to do with what you're trying to achieve; a violin player can use several techniques with fancy-sounding Italian names. There's sforzando (start out loud, go back to quiet...

They've also been gigged heavily so one in good condition may cost a bit more than you'd expect. Cartridges go away for insane amounts of money, too. Not to mention the converters (ADP1) for DX7 cartridges to DX7-II ones - sixty bucks for a piece of plastic and some copper traces? Still, cartridges ...

If the arpeggiator just doesn't work, it may be that the previous owner (if that was the case) has set the MIDI Clock signal to External. Since you have nothing plugged in that sends a clock signal, the arp may not run because of that. Solution: set MIDI clock to internal. It means you have to adjus...

WHY DO YOU capitalize random words The demo you mentioned is here? -> http://www.software-technology.com/info/softech/vaz2010/v2/Trance.mp3 Anyway, old analogs didn't have effects. Effects were for limp-wristed poser budget synths like Junos who needed a chorus to sound fat (the previous sentence is...

It can do 'm (well, not the typical detuned leads unless you have a DX with saw waveforms), but basses and arpeggio sounds on the DX are more interesting.
