It's not a Mellatron or Chamberlin, I don't think. It could actually be any number of polyphonic synths or samplers. I'd even be willing to gamble it's a similar synth to one in my arsenal, such as the JX-10. That one hasa rather nice analog-generated choir tone which I love using (about as much as ...

My Korg 05rw module probably fits that description. The guy I bought it from wasn't the most knowledgable with creating his own synth patches, except on a manual synth like his ARP Axxe. (h**l, he didn't even create his own patches on the Nord Lead 2r he had for a while.)

These examples aren't writtne down anywhere that I know of, but I've heard both of them from Moog co-inventor, Herbert Deutsch:

"Minimoog Voyager: Back to the future."

"Opus 3 working title: Strings Organ Brass (S O B)."

I think my ARP Axxe was fairly abused when I first purchased it. The top D-key was a bit broken, one of the envelope sliders didn't work and the general playability was negligable at best. (At one point, I remember that pressing on that D-key with different amounts of velocity resulted in pitch vari...

I think that date is when analog synthesis first made its way in the direction of the masses. Don Buchla, Raymond Scott, Leon Theremin and all the others who made advances in that direction may count, but it was first in the hands of Dr. Moog that analog synthesis (or even the Theremin) gained comme...

1. I'd tell the whole rock music community on the whole that it wouldn't kill them to re-incorporate a few synths (of any sort) into their music. 2. Don't ask me why, but I'm thinking a Rhino. 3. Maybe, the Andromeda and the Prophet VS. [Anyone ever considered a vector joystick on an analog monster?...

Beyond what I've already got, I'd take the Yamaha Motif XS8 (w/ a couple of expansion boards), the DSI P08 Tabletop and an Opus 3 - if you can get them for less than 5 grand.

Give me another $5,000 dollar budget, and I'll have a Hammond XK3 to upgrade the Opus.

Ha ha ha, very good, clubbedtodeath. Every synthesist's dream. More like a nightmare. It was never quite completed and always breaking down, and you'd need a warehouse to house it. Besides, it was mono and didn't have MIDI. ;) Actually the Teleharmonium was completely polyphonic I believe. And goin...

Seems the general consensus is in the direction of the PolySix. I'll add my vote. It has two elements none of the Juno synths have: knobs and VCO's. The differences should make the PolySix a nice complament to the 60. [Personally, I may still pick the 106 in the future, even if it's inferior-soundin...

Unfortunately, there isn't one single analog synth that could make up for the absence of the rest. If I had to replace my JX-10 with something better, I'd take an Oberheim OB8. It and the Voyager would work so well together. But then, I wouldn't want to have one without the other. That's the closest...
