Re: Downsizing (which synths can I sell?)
I'm still a stranger to the softsynth/DAW thing, and have to admit that in the back of my mind those solutions are still prone to timing issues compared to hardware MIDI gear and hardware MIDI sequencers (or an Atari ST running whatever MIDI sequencer). I don't know if that's still a fact but ...if...

Re: Downsizing (which synths can I sell?)
Given what you want to get rid of, and bearing in mind what you already have to substitute - I'd get rid of it *all*, and use that money to get something different and inspirational, unless there was some specific reason for keeping something.

Re: Request Advice on Midi Setup
You basically want a sequencer or DAW of your choice running on your computer, with some sort of MIDI and Audio interface (if you want to record audio into the computer, hear audio etc). Presumably you want to use your Sixtrak as a controller (to play/record MIDI notes into the computer), so you'll ...

Re: Could anyone identify this 1996 synth sound?
If it's a synth, then it's likely a rompler, something like the Roland ones you already mention.
But it isn't necessarily a synth, it could be a sample from a sample library, or even a sample from a guitar that the original producer did themselves.

Re: Request Advice on Midi Setup
I'm not really sure what you're asking? What can be done? You have a couple of drum machines, an electronic drum synthesiser, and a 6-voice polysynth. You can run them in sync with a DAW on your computer, and you can record them into the DAW as audio (and thus free up the hardware for new parts). As...

Re: Could anyone identify the synth sound (Madonna)?
I would guess D50, but there's certainly M1 (piano) in that track, as well as other samples, so who knows the actual source - it could have been a D50/whatever sample on an S900 disk transferred into an S1000 - it was a bit of a wild west time for samplers back then. But - it's a flute sound, I'm su...

Re: How can I produce this Minimoog special sound effect?
It’s a guitar + effects. Buying an analogue synth is not going to let you make this sound - wrong tool for the job

Re: Roland jv-1080
no, those are ok i think, i can play some patches in perform mode Yes, but in performance mode, you have many performances that respond (multitimbrally) to different MIDI channels. Check your overall MIDI channel, and set it to 1. Also make sure your keyboard is transmitting on channel 1. Then patc...

Please be specific. I listened to the first minute of that song and there are no synths in it whatsoever.
If there is a particular part, at a particular time, please mention it to stop people having to guess what you're talking about...

Re: Prince/Martika Synth
That's a filtered version of the Roland D50 "Soundtrack" patch (a glorious patch, and one of my all-time favourites, made by Eric Persing of Spectrasonics.) You can get it in Roland's D50 plugin, as well as the hardware, and there's a version of it in Omnisphere too (albeit not quite the same as the...
