Re: older first generation lineage VA synths ;)
Id like to hear some examples of NEW (aka something newer than 2003), of new genres of music. I know grime and dubstep are pretty much the new commers this decade, but not soo much of that is analog based at all (dizzie raschal used MTV music generator off of a PS1 for his first album). I can't thi...

Re: virus ti snow and the rest of virus ti series
The DSP is how the Virii generate their sounds. Snow is great if you need a few basic virus voices... So it has less DSP because it has less voices, but it doesnt affect the sound of the snow (?) BTW, is there a Virus with more than 2 audio outputs? to use the multi timbral with different audio tra...

Re: virus ti snow and the rest of virus ti series
The Snow is the only TI that has the single DSP. The polar, full size and desktop all have the same specs beyond the keyboard or lack of. Snow and Polar aren't the same thing: Snow http://www.synthtopia.com/content/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/virus-ti-snow.jpg Polar http://www.tim-carter.com/music-pr...

Re: virus ti snow and the rest of virus ti series
One other thought is that the Virus TI is a deep synth. The Snow offers little in hands on control. Of course the total integration aspect means you can control it as a soft synth and you could obviously use a hardware controller but if you’re like me, you prefer built-in hardware control and you’ll...

Re: Prophet 600 vs Prophet 08
I think I've only heard a few decent samples ever come out of prophet. I haven't really been impressed with most of the demos I've come across. I'm not a big fan of the prophet. If I had money to blow I'd probably buy one to see what the big deal is but I wouldn't expect to be amazed. I think that ...

Re: "Vintage" VA synths
and this would be the problem with not reading the whole post and only seeing what you want to see. I explained that I know what analog is, however, there are many that talk about analog having an entirely different nature beyond the simple fact that the sound is produced by VCOs, VCFs, etc...even ...

Re: older first generation lineage VA synths ;)
While many synths do get pigeonholed, it probably isn’t fare to think of any synth that way. Considering that VAs have been used by all kinds of musicians. You hear VAs everywhere over the last decade, I’d say as much or more so than analog. The MS2000/microkorg is probably the most ubiquitous of th...

Re: Prophet 600 vs Prophet 08
Would that really be such a big shock? There are probably very few synths depeche mode hasn't used over the years and the P'08 is one of only a handful of new polyphonic analogs.

Re: Polivoks+ JP8000 for Prophet 08?
I think it is all about economics. If the current selling values of the polivoks and JP = the current selling values of the P'08 than it is a fair trade. If you aren't really using those synths and think the P'08 might inspire some creativity than why not?

There are lots of options for software modulars which is basically how you use a nord modular anyway, right?
