How about a steel guitar? Seems like that would be the ideal candidate for infinite sustain. And if we're talking pedal steel (as opposed to lap steel), then people are already used to fairly high-priced instruments. That would be too cool! great idea P.R.! :) it would sound like a*s. half of the g...

As a second point, this will be THE new hot piece of gear. Every major session guitarist and touring musician is going to have one. It will be on all the new pop records, as well as some of the experimental guitar records. I can see the mars volta, the white stripes, radiohead, muse, and nine inch n...

Funny people here are saying it looks dated when it seems vintage guitars from the '60s and '70s get plenty of love for their looks alone. there is a difference between 'dated' and 'classic' 60's and 70's guitars look classic. They have a great look that cant be placed on any particular period, a l...

Re: My first Virus

I should also mention that Virus isn't the fastest and the most intuitive synth to program. This is because many of the knobs have dual functionality which you access by pressing shift-button (IIRC). It doesn't sound very complex - and it isn't - but it still tampers with the intuitiveness and prog...

thanks for all the info guys! I'm actually thinking of either an ob8 or a jupiter 6 now... they both run around the same price range what are your thoughts on those? the OB-8 doesn't have decent volume mixing for the oscillators like the J6 does. i've always thought the OB-8 is darker and a bit mor...

Maybe I will also add the question of which VA in my collection does the Virus make most expendable? My virtual analogues include: Roland JP8000 Alesis Ion Nord Lead 2X Korg MS2000 Or maybe you'll think I won't like the Virus at all and will sell it for something else... I had both the nord lead 2x...

So tell me about Oberheims: Matrix12/Xpander

Lately I've grown an interest in the Oberheim synths, and i have a couple of questions I hope you guys can help me with Outside of the obvious extra capabilites the xpander/matrix 12 have, do they sound much different from the ob8/xa/x? Does the matrix 12 still have that characteristic oberheim soun...

I can definitely relate.... What I was mostly asking I guess was why can't roland just do something truly sick for a change. They're going to sell keyboards in mass quantities no matter what, just why do they have to be so mediocre these days? I really can't see how an awesome roland keyboard, even...

Motu Ultralite fits that price description and does exactly that.

You can use it as an external mixer and mix from the front panel, without a computer, or you can use it with MOTU cuemix console and mix the levels on your computer.

I've seen people do more creative s**t with one microkorg than I have a lot of people who own rooms full of synths. I can definitely relate.... Why would roland ever make real analog gear again when they can make VA's that most people can't tell the difference between? VA's are synths just like any others, I don't get why it would be bad for them to just keep improving on VA technology instead. Its about how you use the synth anyway. I've s...
