Re: Pulse vs. MFB Synth II
well I guess that comes down to personal taste... my bass player has a ton of analog gear (sh101, promars, mono/poly, jx3p... etc) that I use occasionally and I still prefer the pulse for bass, on all waveforms I do agree with you on the filter resonance being weak, but the rest if the synth is so g...

at like 2:20 you have a sound almost identical to Brian Eno's "sky saw"

Re: Best DAW on PC?
If I went PC I'd get reaper.
Its super cheap, has a lot of features, and is constantly being updated.
If you want to spend more though get cubase, I used that before I went mac.

Re: Pulse vs. MFB Synth II
the pulse certainly has a "robotic" sound, but thats why I like it, it doesn't sound like any other synth I've owned or played it can be soft like an sh101, and then just a touch of the osc volume and it turns to a nasty distorted beast ready to punch your grandmother in the face Plus, two audio rat...

Boss VT-1/Other vocal processors, bitcrushers, & waveshapers
Hey guys, Vocals So I've been on a big the knife/fever ray kick lately, and I'm looking into getting some kind of formant/pitch shifter to use with my voice live. I have plenty of plugins that do the same thing, but taking that to a live situation is a bit different Ideally i'd like something in a s...

that actually was pretty impressive
then again I'm of the crowd that thinks emulation is pointless, and if you want analog buy analog...

Re: Close as it comes to CS-80?
To be successful, it doesn't have to be a 1:1 CS80 though. If people praise the CS80 for being so lively and organic, then you only need to program your emulation or clone to be lively and organic as well in a comparable fashion. So what that the random values and the tonal fluctuations are a tad d...

the andromeda is incredibly lush! definitely cant go wrong with it
the prophet has a sort of brassy quality to it that doesnt work with lush pads, but it is still a great sounding synth

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread
I mean I really am considering buying multiple sems but it's gonna suck not being able to do filter sweeps on all the voices at once... Welcome to the 70's. simple solution: buy a tiny patchbay and then patch your one modwheel out to all the cutoff controls of your SEMS... I do something like this ...

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread
I just want to point out that WD mentioned on another forum that he wouldn't hesitate to throw the new SEM as a drop in replacement in a TVS or FVS.

Re: poly with Moog Little Phatty
for really lush pads I'd say nothing beats the virus TI, its synth engine can sound massive on its own, and the fx section is great as well (every parameter of the effects is modulatable in the mod matrix... something I haven't seen on any other synth I've played)

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread
you people must be brainwashed to hear a difference, I can barely hear anything and i monitored in both my adam a7s and beyerdynamic dt770s
oh and the other issue: they both sound f**k great, so who f**k cares if there is a difference?

Re: Virus TI: Usb Control, Analog Audio
I'm not a fan of using viruscontrol, but thats just me
outside of that one of the main gripes I've heard for audio over USB is that there are a lot of artifcats (pops, clicks, etc)
