Re: I have found my sampler
I was figuring on saving up for an Eventide next...I suspect V-Synth + Eventide would be unbelievable

It's hard to find a review in a music mag that isn't glowing.

Re: motu 828mk3 users here?
since I've used other convertors I've realised they really do make a difference +1, and at $400, it's not exactly like I'm trying to rationalise a large purchase when I rave about the Minime. The only problem with good converters is that they make you want good converters on your stereo too, and th...

Oh, it ishyphen nation wrote:...The Ebbe und Flut is supposed to be the real cat's meow, however...
Digital emulation gets close enough for most things, but the Sherman and EuF are just something else.

Re: Microkorg XL
Hmmm, I think putting a VA and a Rompler into the one cheap synth is a brilliant marketing idea, Korg are gonna sell tonnes of these. It's perfect for the people who want a first synth that has USB midi, cool synth sounds like the Killers and piano and string sounds. :D I still don't like minikeys ...

Re: mutator discontinued?
http://www.mutronics.co.uk/images/Discontinued.gif it IS weird that both the mutator and the ebbe & flut are so expensive, but at least w/ the mutator, i feel it's worth it. pretty unique filter modulation via external signal. does the e&f have that too? i've never really looked into those. The EuF...

That's what I thought, until I upgraded from my Mobilepre to the Firebox...let alone the Firebox to the Apogee.
The lower audio quality isn't going to cripple your recordings (I should know), but it is going to make it a lot more work to get them sounding how you want.

Re: sherman filterbank, is there anything that compares?
I have yet to hear anything remotely close. There's a graininess and strange harmonic distortion that happens when you turn the resonance up that no other analogue filter, let-alone digital filter has. I'm not saying that it's impossible to get a lot of the way there, but I suspect you'd need to do ...

Re: DSP Card question
May I suggest that Stab is right.
Either that or, if you only need DA and have either optical or spdif out, you could get a one of these: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/50-7774
Which is really cheap, and surprisingly good.

Re: I found myself lusting for Blofeld..
I had an XT, which I sold for various reasons, but I've spent enough time with the Blofeld (which I didn't need to learn since the architecture is basically the Q's) to start lusting after that waldorf sound again. I doubt you'd regret it - though you may want to wait to see if Waldorf is going to i...

Re: Small Mixers And Synths
I wish someone had told me about 5 years ago that good converters, monitors, and headphones were worth every penny spent on them. I guess it's a hard sell, since, unlike some big fancy synth, telling someone that buying a decent set of monitors will 'let you hear everything', doesn't sound that exci...

Re: Small Mixers And Synths
So is Analogue Industries an offshoot of Gearslutz? One day I'm going to get one of those new custom Neve consoles, and then hire Carsten Schippmann and Hermann Gillis to make me a patchable filter insert for each channel, and then I will run it into some sort of clearer-than-clear ADC which makes L...

Re: Small Mixers And Synths
I write tracks with everything run into a Behringer mixer, but when I record, it's track by track into an Apogee Minime. Hmmm...didn't you forget the Ebbe and Flut part? Well, yeah, but I didn't want to brag :) The way the recording chain goes is synths into the Minime straight, then I pipe them ba...

Re: NEED SOME HELP!
Ah...true, but your comment about digital being more appropriate is, I think, right for bells, organs, and ambient textures.
There's no good reason to get an analogue synth for those kind of sounds, considering that the digital synths of the 80s basically defined those sort of tones.
