To be fair Carbon, $3800 is a lot of money. This is not to say it's not worth it, but it is a lot of money. Let's say it is in the Modcan range at least - if they were more about selling individual modules I'd be looking at starting one, but as it is, the lump-sum/packaged nature of them means that ...

IF everything is getting sent to the same reverb send, that should help integrate the sound. I suspect a touch of compression on the whole mix would help to make it sound like one thing.

Elektron make staggeringly good choices when it comes to the playability and musicality of their instruments' interfaces. You think? I had a Machine Drum and I hated the way I had to go about changing kits. I have a Sidstation, and I think they could have done it differently, although it would have...

The new centuary has only brought stale rehash of 70's, 80's, 90's music - sure, they may be clique innovation on the boundaries, but pop is dead. Roll on 2020 :D Funny how everyone I've talked to with that opinion doesn't actually know what's going on in modern music... Anyway - the Evolver absolu...

Oh yeah, I have the Kjaerhus one - I'll look into the others.
I'm more interested in grit than volume, though I imagine I may make a painfully loud mix for radio :)

(I'd laugh if you complained of the DCOs after the TR-707 being in your list :P )
I thought the bass station was monophonic?

I was looking at the Oxford stuff - that's got a 2 week trial period for VST users, and there's some mastering plugins there.

It's stupid, but I am skeptical about software for this purpose, even though these guys obviously put a lot of time and effort into getting it to work well.

Ah yes, ol' Mark - I know his stuff.
I think that what's really going on here is me using this as an excuse for the $50 rental of something which will give that instant-gratification 'this knob makes it sound good!' feeling :)

I've thought of that - I'm thinking though that the tape I might have access to (either cassette, or the VHS trick) might not be of high enough quality to make it work in the sense that I'd have to go back and do a bunch more stuff to it on the lappy. I guess it's worth a try though, at least the ch...

Gritting up/loudening a final mix

So - it looks like I'll be releasing some of my material later this year, and having talked it over with the label, we're thinking that it's probably not worth getting it professionally mastered (from an investment/return perspective). That said, I'm keen to give it a bit of a final once-over on the...
