Re: Any comments on the MFB Polylite's sound?

That link's not working for me at the moment, but I read somewhere that although the original SynthLite had digital oscillators, the subsequent II used analogue oscs under digital control. I can't comment on the Poly. They all have digital oscillators, not DCOs. "The SYNTH LITE II is the programabl...

Re: Any comments on the MFB Polylite's sound?

The synthlite is the one they opened up because MFB was claiming them to be analog. However, the MFB site states the following about the Polylite. The MFB-POLYLITE is a MIDI-controlled four-voice desktop synthesizer. Each of its four voices offers three flexible digital oscillators, analogue 24 dB l...

Re: DI or preamp to record analog synths???

I never said anything about perfect isolation... it's from my use of these vs. condensors... less room sound with the shures. Again, just from my experience and mostly on vocals.

and remember that dynamics like the SM58, SM57, and SM7b are better in untreated rooms...more isolation. However, they need pre-amps with a lot of gain to really shine.

Jeez, you guys are giving 23 a hard time over posting his working methods? I guess he would've been better off asking if he should buy a microkorg or a micron.

Re: DI or preamp to record analog synths???

A lot of people talking about getting a nice pre for their synths are getting a nice pre with a DI input, e.g., the Great River pre. The DI input on a preamp is set up for instrument level signals, and often bypasses th...

a) Sound. Some hardware just sounds better ie if you want an analogue sound analogue isn't available in software.
b) Interface. Programming synths on a well designed interface made just for that synth is much better than programming on a computer. Most rack synths are a pain to program though.

I didn't mind the quality. Cool track. Didn't notice bass issues because I'm on computer speakers at work. The bass worked in that case.
