BTW those EMX/ESX do sound good I always like playing with them in the store, don't care to much for the presets. I'll wait till they come down in price in the used market, then stock up on them to sell them for more  Others here don't agree with me that the drum sounds on the EMX-1 are us...

Some people just do not like racks... I hate them (too annoying to get the functionality of a knobby, keyboard / sequencer equipped synth). So, the only options I want are desktop models with built in sequencers or models with keys. Due to space concerns, I tend to not own more than a handful of syn...

There was a video up on YouTube for a while in which Kraftwerk could be seen performing Autobahn live, without the aid of any sequencing tools whatsoever. In it, Ralf plays the Minimoog bassline with his left hand and the melody line with his right. Yeah, there is a link to that video in this threa...

ECC style tubes ( 12AX7, 12AT7, 12AU7, etc) are compatible, but I don't think there's much voltage going into them unlike "proper" tube pres. Do you know what tube they slapped inside? maybe it's some other kind and you do the unexpected hehe From what I can see... there are 2 x Electro Harmonix 12...

They do effect the volume of the unit though...and add something...it seems. I was hoping to add some metasonix type of tubes. :) Though I have no idea if they are the same style or not.

Many of the newer Roland ROMplers have all the sounds from their famous drum machines. My Roland RS-5 has both 808, 909 and 606 drumsets, nicely laid out across the keybed, so it's easy to set up a MIDI drumtrack and play it through the synth. Voila, oldschool drums. But do they sound right? I mean...
