So, who thinks electribes are dead in general? how can a sampler ever be dead? I hear ya...but not all electribes are samplers...and I think Korg will discontinue the whole line up. I'm not saying I like that, but I think electribes are a thing of the past. I'd love to have an ESX-1 with a CF Card ...

If you go for the mpc 1000, you'll have to face the infamous pad problem at some point. Akai poorly engineered the pads. Although, there seem to be a fix for it http://excommence.com/thepadfix/faq.htm Why not a Roland mv-8800? It only has 2 midi outs, though. Also, pricey but it has loads of FX and...

However (and that is pure speculation), I fear that the newest units would not retain tight timing as their elder counterparts since the trend with hardware now is 'do more with less' and especially a lot of things happening at a given time would maybe mean CPU overload and loss of timing. Older un...

The only reason to use an MPC60 these days is for the lo-fi sound, the feel of the pads...or if you want to use only vintage gear. Outside of that, the MPC1000 is the clear winner. Well, in my case, I would appreciate such unit and its integrated sequencer to become the center of my studio and I wo...

Unfortunately, the SP-303 held its value on ebay (high 200s) due to its preference in underground hip-hop (madlib, flying lotus, etc)... so, the 404 is the better buy and machine. It is the perfect sampler for loops and one shot triggered samples... and can hold huge samples...even whole albums of s...

check out the yamaha su10 for a little portable, batterypowered sampler for traveling and making small beats I had one years ago, the sequences cannot be edited in any way, just hit record and play the pads. To me, it was a pain in the a*s to level the samples ( you can't set volume per sample), an...

The MFB64 is cool... but still...only 4 tracks. I would think you would want a track per sound (on the vermona). I understand that the Electribes are kind of cheesy...and not that pretty, but sometimes you just have to use the best tool for the job. Even the Yamaha initially suggested will be great...

I must be missing something... but wouldn't the most sensible option be something with more than two tracks and something that was designed with drums in mind? yeah. you're probably right. it's something i'll have to mill over for awhile. i've never used a sequencer ever so i'm still learning. anyw...
