Easy. Flip over, take out the screws, remove the rear panel and take off the PCB (if it doesn't have a battery holder). You can't go wrong.

Why didn't you say so in the first post that you need one working for the soundcard? Can't know. There are models that work with serial port and other with USB. Be specific.

Visual Analyzer, maybe? http://www.sillanumsoft.org/prod01.htm (this is a freeware but I dunno what it requires)

And there must be more by searching for "Free PC/WIN Oscilloscope"

That I know. But you go by elimination. Where the buzz can come from, the more naturally? Power supply, from a power transistor. And from the output module. You can use some Deep Freeze to cool 'em down. When they'll heat, you can hear the buzz. Go from section to section, methodically. Inject a sig...

I just found the HP-600/700/800 service manual in my stuff. Let me know if you want a copy (for cheap, excellent, complete pdf). Maybe that could help you out.
