Re: My synth has been in repairs for over 3 Months!
techs who have outright lied to me about what was wrong with a synth (ha ha, that's why I always play TOTALLY ignorant when dealing with a new tech... by pretending I know nothing about synths, I find out pretty quickly whether they're on the level or not), I've had techs charge me for unneeded rep...

Re: My synth has been in repairs for over 3 Months!
Anyway, thanks for your post, Maschinegeist... the best way for synth players and techs to come together in harmony for each of us to understand the problems that we face! I agree totally. Not many persons know that I was a musician before I opened up my repairshop. In my neck of the wood many musi...

Re: In Dire Need of a Moog Source Technical Manual
This link might help you.... http://www.sequencer.de/blog/?p=2493 You might have to replace the membrain panel...It's a common problem. RCJ looks for the "Crazy Source" service bulletin - which not related to the membrane. It's just a matter of corrosion of the power transistor. Also, he looks for ...

Re: In Dire Need of a Moog Source Technical Manual
I've got a paper copy (in a box between boxes. Thanks to my wife clean-up
). I surely have a PDF version on a CD-R (which? I've got about 30 CD-Rs of technical documents).
Anyway, just letting you know in case nothing turns up.

Re: My synth has been in repairs for over 3 Months!
AG, I hear you. If you buy a vintage car, it'll be costy to have it fix. Just like if you buy a BMW or something. It's sad, but it's like that. About the benchrate. Your salary goes to you. You don't pay your boss rent or tools or anything. I do. The money I charge goes to pay insurance, the tools, ...

Re: My synth has been in repairs for over 3 Months!
Being a professional synth tech, I can explain the long time being taken. 1) The tech is often overload. It's financially impossible to work for one customer only. If we'd do so, it would cost you far more. The tech must some jobs (read "easier" jobs) on the side in order to make a decent salary. If...

Re: Crumar Peformer - how to clean / fix the sliders?
There are many ways. 1) You can use MGChemicals or CaigLabs lubes. There are some especilly made for sliders. Go to their website for more info (they will explain it better than I). This is the easy way. 2) Disassemble them and them cleam them manually with a wooden Q-Tip and Isopropyl alcohol. Need...

Awesome. Glad to hear it was just that. I have the tendency to assume that people have checked the obvious first (like parameters)... Professional problem: I think in terms of electronic issues. Thanks Xpander.

Re: My Yamaha SY77 preset voices don't sound right
It's late and I don't have my documents handy BUT it is know that changing a back-up battery, the surgery must be made WITHIN 3~5min max. Longer than that, the RAM drains and it loses its content OR the data can go corrupted. You'll have to search with Google for the factory presets and reload them ...

I don't know of no such thing. I fear you'll have to DIY.
